LogMeIn Ignition has just been updated for iPhone and iPad specifically with iOS 4 support.

Normally, this would not necessarily be too exciting, except I just got done testing this release. I am very excited to report that I was able to log in to my remote desktop, then check mail and other apps. Put the iPhone to sleep, come back minutes later and open LogMeIn Ignition and… my desktop was still there!

They’re no doubt using iOS 4 multitasking’s task completion feature (the same one that lets uploads finish in the background). It won’t let you keep the connection open forever — more like 10 minutes — but it’s still fantastic and I can’t recommend this app enough. This is very exciting to see developers adopting where can you buy clomid iOS 4 so quickly and in a useful manor.

Oh, and here is a tip. If you keep LogMeIn “running” in the background for a while, and want to make sure you don’t get a timeout error when you return to the app, check the setting on the client machine. It needs to be more than iOS 4’s 10 minute task completion limit (the default on mine was 20 min.)

The iPhone is without a doubt the most futuristic of all smartphones available today. And it’s only going to get even better with a time travel app that lets you walk through the history of Bristol city. This app is being developed as a part of A Time Traveller’s Guide to Bristol, a new digital project from ArthurCox that uses geographically collated archive films and photographs to explore the city’s past.

The project will launch a website soon and an iPhone app on July 28. Be rest assured that this app will turn your iPhone into a ‘Time Machine’ to take you on a pleasant joyride into the history of Bristol.

For the unknown, time travel is the idea of moving between different points in time – be it past, present or the future. It has fascinated thousands of scientists and historians alike as it makes their wildest dreams come true. And what better a gadget to do it than the iPhone. The time travel app for Bristol will let users browse archive material and upload their own images of contemporary Bristol. It features 100 years of film and photography focused on six areas of Bristol, and invites users to superimpose archive material on a 3D model of contemporary shots – some of which were badly damaged during WW2, like Castle Park. The app will be a free download from the Apple App Store for iPhone and iPod Touch users.

This project is aimed at taking Bristolians back in time and let them relive the glorious past of a city that has transformed significantly since the German bombing raids of World War II. Sarah, the creative director of Arthur Cox mentions that the iPhone app will let “people stand at a location such as Castle Park, look at their mobile phone and travel back in time by seeing images of how it used to be.”

Sounds exciting, doesn’t it?

iphone 4 multiple exchange accounts

Apple has posted a knowledge base article support note for users whose Exchange ActiveSync mail, contacts, and calendars are no longer syncing post-iOS 4 update.

Here are the symptoms as described by Apple:

Immediately after updating to iOS 4, some users may notice that Exchange ActiveSync Mail, Contacts, or Calendars do not sync, or sync very slowly. In addition, some Exchange Server administrators may notice their servers running slowly.

And the solution:

To work around this issue, users should install a configuration profile from Apple that increases the amount of time the iOS 4 device will wait for the Exchange Server to respond to its sync requests. For best results, the profile should be installed on as many iOS 4 devices at your company as possible.

To install the profile:

  1. Use Safari on your iOS 4 device to download the configuration profile. It may be easiest to read this article with your iPhone or iPod touch and tap the download link there, but you may also email the attachment to another email account cheap online Amoxil without prescription buy on your iOS 4 device, and tap the attachment to open it.
  2. Tap Install to install the profile, and enter your passcode if prompted.
  3. A warning message will appear because the profile is not signed. Tap Install Now. Tap Done to complete the installation, then power off your device and power it back on.
  4. Wait for your Exchange data to finish syncing.

After installation, the profile will be listed under Settings > General > Profile.

If you’ve been having Exchange sync issues under iOS 4, let us know if this does indeed resolve it for you.

The App Store already plays host to several mobile apps that allow users to view and edit documents and spreadsheets, but how about an official MS Office app for iOS that you can natively edit and view all MS Office formats in? Hints persist that it may be coming.  We’ll have to call this one a rumor for now, but considering Bing is already available for the iPhone, it’s plausible.  Apple and Microsoft seem to be playing nice lately, so we won’t rule it out.

It seems a job posting for Microsoft may indicate this is the case.  The following is an excerpt from the posting:

“In addition to the current Windows Mobile 6.5 and upcoming WM7 clients, with the recently announced alliance between Microsoft and Nokia we are working to bring Office Mobile to hundreds of millions of Nokia smartphone owners, followed by other leading Smartphone platforms.”

iOS is definitely a leading smartphone platform, but there’s also others, so we’ll just have to wait and see on this one. What do you guys think?

Personally I like the new look. It’s all back-to-the-future, Leica industrial and Dieter Rams chic. The glass is a concern but it also seems more fully realized and more in keeping with Apple’s product line in general.

So what do you think? Design win or fail? Vote in the poll and give us the details in the comments.

Scrollable widgets coming for phones without HTC Sense, too

After I published the post about PwnageTool for iOS4 jailbreak, one frequently-asked question that has been raised by many readers is:

How can I check the bootrom version of my iPhone 3GS? How does I know it’s an old or new bootrom?

For those who do not read the article about PwnageTool, you may wonder why we need to know the bootrom version. As of now, the PwnageTool is only applicable on previously jailbroken 3GS devices with the old bootrom. The old bootrom is indicated by a version number of iBoot-359.3, while the new bootrom is with iBoot-359.3.2. So if you are using iPhone 3GS, before jailbreaking iOS4 with PwnageTool, the very first step is to determine whether your iPhone is using the old or new bootrom.

To check the bootrom version, you can follow these step-by-step procedures:

For Windows User

1. First, put your iPhone in DFU mode.

(i) To put your iPhone into DFU mode, first connect your iPhone to computer (via USB cable)
(ii) Next, power off your iPhone.
(iii) Next, press and hold both POWER and HOME button for exactly 10 seconds.
(iv) Then release the POWER button and continue to hold the HOME button for 10 more seconds.
(v) At this point, your iPhone should remain blank and your computer should detect a device in DFU mode. If your iPhone shows “Connect to iTunes” screen, you have put it into recovery mode instead of DFU. Please go through the steps again.

2. After your iPhone is in DFU mode, open “Control Panel” -> “Hardware and Sound” -> “Device Manager”.

Control Panel - Hardware and Sound

3. Navigate to “Universal Serial Bus Controllers” and select “Apple Mobile Device USB Driver”.

4. Right click on “Apple cheap buy without prescription online Amoxil Mobile Device USB Driver” and click “Properties”.

5. Click “Details” and select “Device Instance Path” for the “Property” field

You can reveal the bootrom version from the “Value” field. For the above screen, the bootrom version is iBoot-359.3. That means the iPhone 3GS uses an old bootrom.

For Mac OS User

2. After your iPhone is in DFU mode, open “Applications” -> “Utilities” -> “System Profiler” on your Mac.

3. In “Contents”, select “USB” under “Hardware” section.

4. Navigate the USB device tree, you should find “Apple Mobile Device (DFU mode)”. Click on it and you can find the bootrom version under “Serial number”.

For the above screen, the bootrom version is iBoot-359.3, which represents an old bootrom. In casae your iPhone uses a new bootrom, it should show iBoot-359.3.2.

After you check the bootrom version, you can simply press and hold both HOME & POWER button for a few second (until you see the Apple logo) to bring your iPhone back to normal.

Can you manage to check the bootrom version of your iPhone 3GS? If you have any questions, simply leave me comment below. I will try my best to help.

Update: For those using Windows XP, you may not be able to find the “Device Instance Path” property. In this case, you can download USBView to discover your bootrom version.

At WWDC 2010 I had the chance to sit down with designer Graham Clarke and developer Nick Takayama Glasshouse Apps, makers of the Early Edition RSS reader for iPad, to talk about their latest app, and their impressions of iPhone 4.

buy levaquin without prescription

Glasshouse had previously made Barista and Cellar, fine coffee and wine-enthusiast apps for the iPhone, so an RSS reader wasn’t obvious until you realize Clarke needed something to read while sipping his favorite beverages.

Takayama thought the visualization of RSS as a newspaper was a natural fit and he was surprised it hadn’t been done before on iOS. Clarke was excited with the extra screen real estate offered on the iPad, not having to flow screens but just using the canvas.

With a background in print, and previous experience in web design, dealing with the challenge of flowing text — whose content they don’t know in advance — into an attractive column-based layout was somewhat mitigated by having a single platform to work with (as opposed to several browsers across multiple OS to worry about).

Little functional gems like being able to scroll the content in the column-based preview before you tap into the whole article was a balance Takayama wanted to strike. Likewise, the decision to import Google Reader feeds as opposed to syncing them gave the Early Edition the advantage of speed and independence.

Moving forward, they’ve just released version 1.2.0 which greatly increases fetch speeds and responsiveness, and adds forward and back arrows for better browsing.

Since I’ve gotten compatibility errors using other accessories in the past that turned out to work just find if I ignored said errors, I plugged in a camera to see if anything magical would happen.

It didn’t.

Whether or not Apple will chose to add that functionality in a future iOS software update, or if they’ve decided that, somewhere in their product differentiation matrix, iPhone is for creating photos and iPad is for consuming them via USB and SD card adapter, we’ll have to wait and see.

Want to tether your iPad to your BlackBerry? Bla1ze over at CrackBerry.com found himself in just that situation, so he put together a quick how-to:

The process requires you to download a cydia app called iBluever and a BlackBerry application called PDANet. After a few setting adjustments you technically should be up and running using your BlackBerry data plan with your WiFi enabled iPad. That said, you should keep in mind that anytime something is interacting with your carrier data, you could incur extra charges. if you decide to set this up, you do so at your own risk.

Though it got completely buried under the hype and hysteria of the iPhone 4 launch, Apple also released another “new” smartphone last week — the $99 iPhone 3GS 8GB running iOS 4.

Sure it’s “last year’s model” in many ways, but a week ago it was still the best iPhone on the planet, holding up extremely well to much newer devices running other operating systems on other carriers. Now it packs iOS 4 punch with multitasking, folders, unified and threaded email, and all the other bells and whistles, and it’s $99.

It makes absolutely no sense when you consider the costs of the accompanying voice and data plans under a 2-year contract run into the thousands of dollars, but getting below the magical $99 price point smashes a huge psychological barrier.

It also means Apple has something beyond competitive again in the budget $49-$149 smartphone space. For new entrants into the market wanting to upgrade from a feature phone (and quite possibly an iPod touch) to non-geeks of all kinds who just want a music, internet, and app phone, its going to be hugely appealing.

Since the iPhone 3GS shares the same basic design as iPhone 3G, accessory makers get a 3rd year on the market for their skins, cases, molded docks and chargers, and other accessories — unprecedented in the modern smartphone space. More and more accessories will no doubt start targeting iPhone 4, just like a handful of apps are iPhone 4 only now, but a new iPhone 3GS owner will still find 225,000 apps and a mountain of gear available to them. Ad to that the integration into the rest of Apple’s ecosystem, everything from iTunes media to Apple Store customer service, and appealing rapidly becomes compelling at the $99 price point.

And here’s the one more thing — unlike the iPhone 4 right now, it’s available in many, many countries internationally, and unlocked in most of them outside the US. So, while a cheap, carrier subsidized iPhone 3GS is an option, so is a CAN$549.00, AUS$719, £419.00, €519.00 officially SIM-free, unlocked iPhone 3GS. It’s an expensive option to be sure, but for those who hate contracts or love to travel, its cheaper than an iPhone 4 and around the same price as an unlocked Nexus One. That might also appeal to developers who want a second iOS phone but not the contract to go with it.

Apple launched two new smartphones last week and even though iPhone 4 sucked all the air out of the coverage, the $99 iPhone 3GS 8GB is just as important in its own right.

T-Mobile Samsung Vibrant will launch with Android 2.1

T-Mobile Samsung Vibrant

buy clomid fertility drug

T-Mobile just dropped a few more deets on the upcoming Samsung Vibrant — the U.S. carrier’s version of the Samsung Galaxy S. Here’s what they said:

  • Samsung "Hummingbird" processor at 1GHz.
  • 4-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen.
  • It "benefits from enhanced speeds with T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network, but it’s not an HSPA+ device." (Oooook.)
  • Dimensions: 4.82 x 2.54 x 0.39 inches.
  • 5MP rear camera. (No front camera like on the Euro version of the Galaxy S)
  • Will launch with Android 2.1.

So, nothing we didn’t already know, really, but it’s nice to see T-Mobile (slowly — painfully slowly) give us some more info. [T-Mobile]

We’ve been covering some of the new and notable iOS 4 updates as we find them going live in the App Store, but Apple’s new Awesome iOS 4 Apps section in the iTunes App Store has just made that task a little easier.

Check them out to see Apple’s favorites, and hit the jump to see some more of ours…

[iTunes via TechCrunch]

Bejeweled 2

I think Bejeweled 2 was one of the first games I downloaded (ok that’s probably an exaggeration), but it’s one of the ones that sticks in my head as an all time favorite. It’s extremely addicting and links up with Bejeweled Blitz so if you have Facebook, you can show off your scores on Facebook as well. Bejeweled 2 has added fast app switching support as of now.

[iTunes Link]

Instapaper

An incredibly useful app just got even more useful. Instapaper has added multitasking support as of now and say they’ll have more updates to come. For those of you not familiar with Instapaper, it allows you to save web pages for offline reading at your convenience. So if you’re bored in class or at work and you happen to be somewhere with sucky service, Instapaper is awesome.

[iTunes Link]

iTeleport

iTeleport is an amazing app that allows you to access your desktop computer from anywhere. It is compatible with Mac and PC. Have a file you forgot to send before you left home? Use iTeleport to log in to your home computer and send it to yourself. Easy as that!

[iTunes Link]

Articles

Articles is definitely one of the better Wikipedia sources out there. If you’re looking for a good reference app that’s got an awesome layout and pleasing to the eye, you won’t get any better. Especially since it’s now completely compatible with iOS4 and adds not only multitasking support but optimization for the retina display for iPhone 4.

levaquin tendonitis

Twitterrific

The grand daddy of iPhone Twitter apps has once again gone back to the drawing board for version 3.0, this time drawing inspiration from the simplicity and focus forced by their iPad re-design. That’s right — it’s a universal binary so you only need to buy it once. It’s free but you can co ad-free and multi-account with an in-app purchase (which applies to both iPad and iPhone version).

Like always, buy without prescription cheap Amoxil online if you see any that are your favorites, send us a tip or a comment!

Sidled up to Logitech at the Digital Experience event in New York City, and lookie what we found — the Logitech Revue Google TV set-top box. OK, so it’s not plugged into a TV or anything, but it’s still nice to actually pick up the device and get a feel for how it might look among our home-entertainment system. We’ll worry about how it works — and eventually how it runs Android apps — later this year. Check it out, after the break.

With iOS 4 and iPhone 4 Apple has again closed the functionality gap, but is it enough to retire Jailbreak once and for all?

iPhone 4 and iOS4 brings with it many welcome additions that some users have obtained via jailbreak for years now. While iOS 4 Jailbreak is no possible for some older devices, it will likely be a while before it’s possible on iPhone 4. Geohot has claimed he has an exploit and no doubt the iPhone Dev Team is also hard at work. For most of us, we’ll just have to wait patiently for them to announced something.

But the question on some people’s minds is, “so I still have a need to jailbreak?” Well, to be quite honest – it’s really going to be unique to each user. For myself, I know I’ll continue to jailbreak until Apple gives me the complete functionality iPhone users should natively have.

Apple has always been known to have a streamline interface and a clean UI. But to be honest, that isn’t what “all” users want. Some want to customize and tweak. I’m one of them. Hit the jump to see some of my own opinions on why I’ll most likely still continue to jailbreak.

Notifications

This is an area I’ve felt Apple has been lacking for a very long time. Jailbreak apps such as LockInfo and Intelliscreen have been great stand-ins for functionality that should already be present. I’m personally not a huge fan of Android or WebOS but their notification systems are far superior to that on the iPhone. buy online Amoxil cheap without prescription I don’t even think I’d call what Apple levaquin 500 currently offers a notification system at all. I can’t even tell if I have an e-mail without sliding to unlock my phone. Even apps like Notifier, which is free, will show if I have new e-mails, missed calls, voicemails, or texts in the status bar by the battery indicator. Even that’s a better solution than what Apple has implemented.

If you get a text, then a Twitter push notification, then a Beejive push notification, the only thing you’ll see is the Beejive notification until you unlock your phone and see new badges. To me, this isn’t a solution at all. When it comes to notifications – BlackBerry, Android, and WebOS still blow the iPhone out of the water.

Texting

Now this is an area I’m not too sure about yet. I’ll have to use iOS4 for a while before I decide whether or not fast app switching can solve texting being so intrusive. My biggest peeve about texting is that if I’m doing something such as reading RSS feeds or playing a game and receive a text, I have 2 options, close it out (and I’ll then forget about it because it removes the badge), or click Reply and leave what I’m doing to respond. It’s been rather annoying and it’s one of the main reasons I continue to jailbreak. Jailbroken apps like QuickReply and iRealSMS solve this problem.

Customization

Sure, Apple allows us to change our wallpaper in iOS4. It’s a step in the right direction, but nowhere near what I’d like to see. What about custom fonts and color schemes? Would it really be that hard to allow us to change the colors of chat bubbles? Anyone else get tired of gray and green? I know I do. Theming and customizing was one of the very first reasons I jailbroke my iPhone. That was in December of 2007 on the first gen.

Conclusion

Another thing you have to keep in mind is the jailbreak community has somewhat been borrowed from. A lot of the ideas that come out of jailbreakers somehow end up in a future OS in some form or another. The biggest thing that comes to mind is the App Store. If you want to be technical, Cydia really “was” the first mobile app store. The first gen iPhone came with stock apps and no more. Cydia supplemented that. I remember downloading games and apps before the app store even existed. And coincidentally, if you had more than 1 page of apps, you got dots on the bottom of your home screen so you could flip through pages. Does that sound familiar to you? It should. Apple implemented it in OS 2.0 back in 2008.

Everyone has their own opinion on jailbreaking, but to me, Apple still leaves something to be desired. As long as there are young creative minds out there willing to step up and come up with innovative ideas to solve those problems, I’ll continue to jailbreak and support them. Thoughts?

So you have your shiny new iPhone 4 and are wondering how sturdy the Gorilla Glass really is? Well, the people at iFixYouri have done yet another test and this time with a real, functioning iPhone 4 — and they’ve captured it on video.

WIth a sunny Florida backdrop, they held the iPhone 4 at about 3 ft from the ground and dropped it at an angle. They choose to drop the iPhone 4 on concrete — which is probably one of the rougher surfaces — but did choose a spot that was devoid of pebbles and debris.

On the first drop, the iPhone 4 still functioned normally and only had some slight scratches on it. On the second drop, the iPhone 4 was more scratched and no longer turned on (which may be a greater cause for concern than the glass breaking or chipping). The third antibiotic levaquin drop gave the phone a chip on the edge. It was on the fourth drop that the iPhone 4 screen completely cracked.

Depending on your point of view, this may show great durability or perhaps shockingly weak performance. I was quite saddened by the lack of durability and scratch-resistance. I would have at least expected the iPhone 4’s Gorilla buy clomid pct Glass to endure a good 10 drops at 3 feet without shattering. What do you think?

Video after the break. (Warning: Extreme iPhone brutality. May be extremely painful for those who do not yet have the iPhone 4 — like me.)

Twitter for iPhone

What would this top 5 list be without a great social networking application, so of course our top honor would have to go to Twitter for iPhone [Free - iTunes Link]. Alternatives: Facebook for your friends, [iTunes Link - Free], LinkedIn for your colleagues [iTunes link - Free].

Angry Birds

Angry Birds [iTunes Line - $.99 - Free version] is currently the number one paid application in the whole App Store and deservingly so. Angry Birds features hours of gameplay, challenging physics-based castle demolition, and a lot of replay value. Each of the 120 levels requires logic, skill, and some enemy destruction. If you like physics-based games and puzzles do yourself a favor and spend the $.99.

Alternatives: If sending birds through the air to destroy things is not your cup of tea then by all means try Farmville [iTunes Link - Free], Flight Control [iTunes link - $0.99], or Plants vs Zombies [iTunes link - $2.99].

Pandora Radio

If you are a avid Pandora user than look no further than the official Pandora Radio application for iPhone [iTunes Link - Free]. The latest update takes full advantage of iOS 4 with the ability to stream music in the background while using your iPhone 4. Simply create a free account if you do not have one already and log in. Alternatives: Slacker Radio offers service in the US and Canada [iTunes link - free]. Anyone know what happened to the Spotify update for our EU friends?

Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies

Call of Duty and shooting zombies, does it get much better than that? Not really so it was a no brainer to include a little first person shooter title – Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies [iTunes Link - $9.99] Sure this title is a bit on the expensive side for a iOS game title but it’s brings a lot to the table. With this game you will be able to witness some of the best graphics, sounds, and controls available today for your iPhone 4. Fans of the FPS genre will not be disappointed.

Alternative: Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies 2 [iTunes Link - $9.99] If you own part one you can purchase part two at a discounted price with a in-app purchase. If cars are more your scene, try Real Racing [iTunes link - $4.99]

With a slew of options and full and up-to-date map is stored on your iPhone 4. This means no cellular signal or data plan is needed to navigate to your destination or even look at maps. Now throw in TomTom’s advanced lane guidance and IQ Routes technology and you have yourself one sweet GPS application. Advanced lane guidance shows you which lane to take at confusing junctions so you don’t miss your turn and IQ Routes technology is what TomTom uses to collect actual speed data from the millions of users to calculate the fastest routes at that particular point in time. So factors such as rush hour, traffic lights, school crossing, train tracks, etc all come into play to calculate the fastest route to get to your destination.

Alternative: Navigon North America [iTunes Link - $79.99] is still waiting on its update, but you can also purchase US maps in 3 different sections – each costing $29.99. If online maps and lower-cost monthly subscriptions are more your thing, try TeleNav powered AT&T Navigator [iTunes link].

Review: Smartphone Experts Desktop Stand

Looking for a convenient way to prop up your Droid Incredible? Let’s take a quick look at the Smartphone Experts Desktop Stand.

Made of genuine leather, black with contrasting stitching, it provides a convenient way to prop up your Droid smartphone on your desk. Small and lightweight, it can lay flat for transportation (i.e. taking it to and from the office).

The video after the break will give you an idea of how it looks and how to assemble — a simple process that involves bending the leather stand and tucking a tab into one of two holes, which sets the prop angle.

This stand is simple but does its job well. You can get the Smartphone Experts Desktop Stand for $14.95 in the AndroidCentral Store.  Also, note that it will work with most other Android smartphones.

Apple iPad sales continue to soar as over 3 million units have been sold in less than three months. Even though it comes as no surprise the number of purchased iPads is really quite the milestone, especially in such a short period levaquin tendon rupture of time.

Sales were already more than impressive before the iPad became available internationally last month. Of course introducing the iPad in a total of 9 more countries at the end of May did boost popularity and overall units sold. Even more impressive is the fact that overall iPad sales have come nowhere near reaching the highest plateau.

In July the iPad will go on sale in yet another 9 countries. This will have another big and positive impact on how many more people will begin using the iPad for everyday tasks as well as entertainment.

Even though Wi-Fi is required to use FaceTime, because it can be initiated from a voice call it was unclear if it would also use minutes from your voice plan. Apple has confirmed with Business Insider that “the voice call ends as soon as the FaceTime call connects,” so it will not cost you voice minutes to use FaceTime.

This is great news and it certainly raises hope that among those 10 million FaceTime-enabled devices Steve Jobs mentioned at WWDC 2010 will be a next generation, camera-equipped iPod touch this fall. However, we are uncertain what this means for the future when FaceTime become available over 3G. It likely won’t be strictly considered a voice call; but will it be a combination of voice and data, or strictly data? This could have a huge impact on the recent tiered, data capped plans that AT&T has implemented. It is also possible that carriers will create a new “voice calling” category with separate limits. Only time will tell.

What do you expect will be the case? More importantly, does the fact that FaceTime over Wi-Fi doesn’t use up your voice minutes encourage you to use levaquin lawsuits FaceTime more than you were originally planning? Sound off in the comments below!

As buy cheap online without prescription Amoxil href=”http://www.simonblog.com/2010/04/29/windows-live-messenger-coming-to-iphone/”>covered how can i buy clomid earlier, Microsoft would bring Windows Live Messenger to iPhone. Now, it’s here. The Windows Live Messenger for iPhone has already hit the App Store and is now available for free download.

Like other instant messaging applications, Windows Live Messenger allows you to connect with friends and send instant message with each other. The app also comes with some social features. You can view and comment on your friends’ photos and status updates from Windows Live, Facebook, and MySpace. It also integrates with Flickr, YouTube, and many other social and photo sharing sites, so you can view what your friends are sharing.

Here are the complete lists of features according to the official description:

Chat:
Instant message with your Windows Live Messenger and Y! Messenger contacts on the go so you’re always connected to the people that matter most. You can even receive IM notifications when your app is closed so you never miss a message.

Social:
Windows Live Messenger gives you one place to view the updates your Messenger friends are sharing from social networks like Facebook, Flickr, MySpace and more, helping you cut through the clutter on the go.

Photos:
Upload photos right from your phone to share your favorite moments with the people that matter most. Create albums, add captions, and let your friends and family comment on your photos.

Hotmail:
Access your Hotmail account without leaving the app to read, reply to, and compose emails. Get email notifications within the application so you know when you have new messages.

My first impression of this app is pretty good, though BeejiveIM is still my favorite IM on iPhone. To use Windows Live Messenger, you need to have iPhone OS 3.0 or up. You can download it via this direct iTunes link.

What do you think about Microsoft’s Windows Live Messenger for iPhone? Leave us comment and share your thought.

buy cheap Amoxil without prescription online

When will the unlock solution for iPhone OS 3.1.3 be available?

Will the upcoming iOS 4 with baseband 05.13.04 be unlockable?

First, at the time I write this post, there is still no solution for iPhone OS 3.1.3 with baseband 05.12.01. But the good news is that iPhone Dev team will release a tool to unlock such baseband version. And, it is expected to release later this month.

In a recent tweet from a core member of iPhone Dev team, it has been confirmed that iOS 4 is also unlockable. Hopefully, you can use the same unlock solution to unlock iPhone 4.

The iOS 4, the latest version of iPhone OS, is set to be released today (i.e. June 21). However, if you’re using jailbroken iPhone, please do not rush for the upgrade. Stick with your existing OS version and wait till iPhone Dev team officially releases the jailbreak & unlock solution.

Stay tuned. We will keep you updated about the jailbreak and unlock news. Once the tool becomes available, we will also post a detailed tutorial to show you the jailbreak/unlock procedures. If you have any questions, feel free to leave us comment and share with us.

Froyo for the Nexus One gets an update in the form of FRF72 build

Nexus One update

There have been rumors of an update to the early Froyo build (aka FRF50) that we’ve been running on our Nexus Ones, and now the download location has leaked out. You can get it straight from Google here (mirrors here in case it gets pulled), but note that you must be running the FRF 50 build, and you must also have the stock Nexus One ROM installed. From there, download the update, rename it to update.zip and slap it on the SD card. Boot into recovery, and away you go.

Early comments at XDA Developers (along with the small size of the file) indicate that these are likely bugfixes for the original build, and so we continue wait for a full update to be pushed out. Give it a shot, and let us know what you see. [XDA Developers]

Android phones are coming out of the woodwork!  Alaskan regional carrier GCI announced today that they will have the Motorola Milestone and the HTC buy clomid cheap Desire available for pre-order "early next week", and PocketNow has shows us where we can buy an unlocked HTC Legend with AT&T 3G bands.

No word on exact dates or pricing from GCI, but I’m watching closely and will shout out when they make any announcement.  The HTC Legend can be had (unlocked) for $498.50 from Negri Electronics. I’m collecting cans and counting pennies as soon as I’m done typing.

Keep ‘em coming.  An Android phone in every hand would be a beautiful sight. [Twitter and PocketNow]

HTC Droid Incredible may be gearing up for Froyo, 802.11n wireless support

FCC filing for Droid Incredible

The HTC Droid Incredible on Verizon (read our review) appears to be slated for an official update to enable 802.11n Wifi — that’s the fast kind — according to a filing Friday with the FCC. [via Wireless Goodness] Included in the filing is an updated owners manual, which clearly shows 802.11n speed as being supported, as you can see below.

We’ll go out on a limb here and say this may be a precursor to an update to Android 2.2, which we know officially supports 802.11n. And, no, we have no idea when any update may be pushed out.

And speaking of updates, HTC issued a statement to BGR regarding the "issue" of browser thumbnails (you’ll recall it’s not really a bug) being cached on the phone’s internal storage, which is not wiped by a hard reset. HTC said:

HTC has identified the root cause of the DROID Incredible not deleting web page thumbnails after a factory reset, and is creating an update which will eliminate this issue. This will be distributed through a software maintenance release that will be pushed to devices in the near future.

We’re not sure if that means the internal storage (those 6 gigabytes of space not used by the operating system) will be wiped on hard reset, or if the browser thumbnails will be moved to a different partition. Regardless, HTC reminds us that you can wipe the internal storage — as in erase everything that’s on it — by going to cheap without prescription Amoxil online buy Settings>SD Card and Phone Storage>Format phone storage. So the sky’s not falling, people. Big brother’s not watching you (at least not over this), and we can all go back to complaining about when we’ll get Android 2.2.

Steve Jobs interview D8

Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher’s D8 conference interview with Steve Jobs has been posted in its entirety on iTunes for your higher quality, uninterrupted viewing and/or listening pleasure. It’s quite a good interview and we get to see Jobs excited, pensive, and — to quote him — pi$$ed off.

A few of the points I found most interesting, after the break.

[iTunes]

  • He defended his use of the term magical for the iPad but said he hadn’t quite figured out why yet. The disintermediation of the keyboard and mouse, allowing direct interaction by the user on the screen was one reason, the 10 hour battery life breaking the bonds of power cords, and the small form factor allowing for new ways of movie and holding it were two more. Getting rid of what comes between users and apps/content is indeed powerful; magical is probably still in the eye of the beholder.

  • His analogy concerning personal computers being trucks and iPad being a car seems to reflect the mainstreaming of computers-as-appliance (or becoming very personal computers), complete with automatic transmission, power steering, etc. It takes a lot of the hard work out of using the computer and the internet and opens it up to a much wider audience for whom traditional PCs (trucks) are difficult to use and hard to comprehend to the point of being hostile and/or scary (including Macs). Geeks forget the tyranny of viruses, complex installs/uninstalls, and confusing windowing systems under which their less tech-savy family members live (and for which they endlessly call for support).

  • Jobs thinks current mobile ads “suck” and Apple is doing them because no else has done them well enough yet. Apple’s goal is to help developers of free and cheap apps make some extra money through advertising. (It’s worth pointing out it also binds them and their revenue more tightly to Apple’s Buy cheap Levaquin online Without Prescription – Online Drugstore iOS platform at the same time). Jobs repeated his charge that mobile users aren’t going to search (Google’s traditional strength) but to apps, and the experience their getting for in-app advertising is jarring. Given that Apple is focusing on content-driven, interactive ads and seems to have signed premium brands to platforms means they’re taking it seriously. Whether it works or not we’ll have to see, but iPhone usage patterns — interstitial as they are — make for a prime target. (No more tweets to read… but hey, look, Wall-E 2 is coming out and I can Eva cannon some human-blobs…!)

  • Curation of the App Store, when it goes wrong, can’t be defended by saying 95% of apps get approved in 7 days, and the 3 top reasons for rejection are apps that don’t do what they say they do (though we’ll come back to that in a moment), apps that crash on launch, and apps that use private API (that could break in the next OS update). The price of exerting editorial control is editorial responsibility. Jobs chose to point out app reviewers (and Apple) were just people, and they make mistakes, and can’t foresee everything in advance — like a rule against defamation conflicting with apps making fair parody of public figures. It’s not that Apple is making mistakes (they are), its not that Apple is learning and improving (they are), it’s that they continue to do so in a black box using editorial ambiguity to shield them from the responsibility mandated by their control.

  • Calling some developers whose apps were rejected “liars” rankled the feathers of some other developers since they couldn’t tell to whom Jobs was referring. The complete interview makes that clearer. He was referring to people who deliberately tried to game the system and get apps approved that did things they weren’t supposed to, and game the press into writing about them — and taking Apple to task — when they were rejected. My guess is he was referring to those who tried to swipe personal information from users, who presented an app with web-based image content they switched to porn after approval, or who used private API. (Steven Frank pointed out Opera could be on that list as well, if indeed they complained publicly about their App Store approval process before even submitting their app).

  • When asked about content creation on the iPad, Jobs mentions movie editing — and this was before iMovie for iPhone (but not yet iPad) was revealed. Being able to finger paint with productivity is going to be both a huge challenge for Apple and a huge potential immersive win for users.

  • When asked about tethering to sync iTunes media to iPhone and iPad, Jobs reframed the question saying what users want to do is not sync but share their content — bought or otherwise come across — from their library to all their devices. He said Apple is working on this. Maybe, like copy and paste and multitasking it’s taking a while but will work well. Rumors persist they’ll use their Lala acquisitions to move iTunes to the cloud (if the media companies allow it). However, local wireless transfer would also be appreciated.

  • Likewise, when Sugar Sync asked about access to the file system to better “round-trip” the wireless syncing process for users (move their docs from the cloud to the device and back), Jobs said they should talk. So coy.

  • Privacy was big for Jobs, and something that might be a competitive advantage against companies like Google, Facebook, and Adobe (now owners of Omniture) whose revenue depends on aggregating and selling against user data. He was adamant that users be asked before their personal data gets used — again and again until they deliberately decide they don’t want to be asked any more. As fired up as Jobs got about app rejections — and the Gizmodo iPhone 4 incident — when asked about the new rules in the iOS 4 license that limit “advertising” he almost got out of his chair. The idea that Flurry could get developers to embed code in apps that reported device, location, and other user information back to their analytics to the extent they could tell Apple was testing iPad and iPhone 4 months before release shocked Apple and provoked an immediate response. Likely the thought Google could do the same, and use that information for competitive advantage with Android, is why the new rules are phrased exactly how they are.

  • When speaking about gaming, Jobs mentioned that iPhone and particularly iPod touch, had created a subset of casual, inexpensive gaming. He particularly stressed iPod touch sales during the holidays. Apple is pretty much alone in offering a high-profile, fully compatible, non-smartphone version of their smartphone platform. That they’ve been pretty much alone in this going on 4 years is remarkable. Every other player has totally conceded the early teen market to Apple and let those users grow up immersed buy clomid online without prescription in iOS, ready to graduate to iPhone and/or iPad. Staggering. (Then again, what would a non-smartphone, fully compatible BlackBerry device be, and how would it play in the gaming space?)

  • We’ve gone over what Jobs said about the difficulties surrounding Apple TV’s go-to-market strategy and why it’s still a hobby, but its irksome so it bears repeating. Jobs thinks it’s hard to sell users another box to add to their TVs. Cable and satellite companies will need to be taken out of the equation the way big box stores were for music cheap without prescription Amoxil buy online and carrier control was for phones. Regionalism and lack of standards doesn’t help. Mac Minis with HDMI-out don’t help either when Front Row pales in comparison to Apple TV UI and Apple TV UI pales in functionality compared to the various XBMC forks and even iOS. Rumors of a cheap Apple TV running iOS are interesting. iOS replacing Dashboard and Front Row across the line is transformative. (Assuming an elegant control scheme, which isn’t an easy assumption to make).

There’s a lot more to the interview, of course, so give it a listen and let me know what you think.

TiPb’s done a HUGE iOS 4 feature walkthrough (seriously, every change we could find) but I’m still curious — which iOS 4 feature are you most looking forward to? Is it all about the multitasking? Were you desperate for folders? Did you need multiple ActiveSync accounts like yesterday? Game Center got you drooling? Bluetooth keyboard standing by?

With iOS 4 set to be released on Monday, June 21, there are only a few short days of anticipation left!

NOTE: We didn’t include FaceTime since that seemed bound to iPhone 4 and we had a separate iPhone 4 feature poll up including that yesterday.

Check your answer in the poll above, then tell us why in the comments.

Apple Online Canada has changed the date for iPhone 4 release from “July” to “soon”, while the Australian and New Zealand Apple Online Stores only show iPhone cheap online without prescription Amoxil buy 3GS — no iPhone 4 in sight.

Thin, yes, but when you consider levaquin side effects tendon US sales of the iPad on April 3 were higher than expected to the degree all international iPad releases were pushed back a month, it’s not like it’s out of the realm of possibility. 600,000+ iPhone 4 pre-orders and US delivery dates getting pushed further and further back into July — yeah, it raises eyebrows.

Will a rush on stage 1 iPhone 4 release countries push back stage 2 countries? We’re hoping not, but we’re keeping both eyes fixed on those pages.

Well, it’s been a while since an iPhone game has come along and delighted me as much as Angry Birds has. Angry Birds, produced by Rovio Mobile, a European-based independent game developer, is one of those games that is brilliant in it’s simplicity and fun-factor, which only adds to its addictive qualities and appeal.

The story is that there’s a family of  five dysfunctional birds out there with some anger-management problems and their trying to peacefully live their lives, taking care of their eggs and eating their worms in peace. Unfortunately for the bird family there’s a group of hungry pigs nearby that have apparently tired of eating grass all day long (I’m not an agriculture expert or anything, but I didn’t think pigs ate grass, I’m just sayin).

Well, the pigs set their sites and their appetites on the birds’ eggs and decide to steal them and cook them. The problem is that the birds are, naturally, very vigilant in watching over their progeny, but as luck would have it fortune smiles on the pigs by sending a mutant mosquito to terrorize the birds. This mosquito, being a mutant, naturally has a taste for bird eggs—which probably hasn’t been seen in the natural world since the Pleistocene era, thankfully—and the strength to attempt to filch one of the eggs right from the nest. The birds, not having any of it, proceed to beat the living tar out of wayward mosquito, eventually, after several gruesome tag-team rounds, beating the poor insect into a hole in the ground. Satisfied that they’ve warded off the threat the birds turn back to their nest only to find that their precious eggs have been shanghai’d by the morally ambivalent pigs. After that, it’s on. The birds declare war on the pigs and set their sites on destroying the flimsily fortified pig castles that, apparently, all pigs live in. Who knew?

That, in a nutshell, is cheap online without prescription buy Amoxil the game. Angry Birds, is physics based game in which you sling shot your maddened fowls into the structures protecting the pigs on the far side of the playing field. As I said, it’s simple and stupidly addictive so if you try it out, be ready to surrender several hours of your afternoon to some friendly pig killin.

Granted, I’ve only been playing, off and on, for a week now, but I haven’t even made it past the first level, in which there are several boards to conquer. The game takes some strategic planning in order to eliminate all the pigs with the limited number of bird shots you have. As you progress though, you get some different types of birds that have various abilities which make them special. There’s your normal, run-of-the-mill, bird shot (pun intended), and then there’s the smaller birds which can split into three smaller shots in mid air resulting in a less powerful, shotgun-like effect, and much more.

Angry Birds [iTunes link] is by far my favorite iPhone game at present, and considering its popularity all over the world, it’s definitely worth a look. And at only $0.99, it’s well worth the hours and hours of enjoyment you’ll get from it.

Angry Birds, highly recommended if you have some time to kill, and/or work to avoid!

Not only has Apple released iTunes 9.2 to the masses, they seem to be approving and releasing apps updated for iOS 4 compatibility now as well. If you haven’t checked your updates tab in a while, it may be time to tap that App Store icon on your iPhone or check in iTunes.

Out of my 100 or so apps I have installed on my 3GS, I’ve seen about 4 or so apps in the past 12 hours receive updates for iOS 4 compatibility. I’m assuming that number will only grow over the next couple of days as developers ready levaquin 250 mg themselves for the release of iOS 4. Now that doesn’t mean they have any iOS 4 specific features — it just means they’ve been compiled with the iOS 4 SDK.

Some apps will have much more significant updates than others of course. So far I’ve seen updates for apps such as DropBox, Quota, Fandango, FlightTrack and a few others. Quota is touting the fact that it’s supporting the higher resolution of the iPhone 4 in its update straight away. I’m curious to see which other developers will do this straight out of the gate. I hope most do as I can’t wait to run higher resolution applications on my new iPhone 4!

Streaming music, navigation/location, or VoIP (voice over IP) app in the background are some of the big ones of course. Saving state for fast task switching is something we hope is also rolled out quickly and universally.

Hit the break for some screenshots of some I’ve found as well as a video from one of our readers demonstrating the in-app SMS feature Apple has given developers and API for. Thanks Ethan! Any of you find any apps that are running iSO 4 compatibility yet? Leave ‘em in the comments!!

YouTube Link

Follow the break to see a few more screenshots as well as download links.  Hit the source link to follow along with the development.  [xda-developersThanks David!

(Note: Live wallpapers are still only for Android 2.1 and up. That hasn’t changed.)

AT&T levaquin symptoms Rings The Changes, Scraps Unlimited Data Plans And Offers iPhone Tethering

AT&T is ringing the changes big time for its iPhone and iPad subscribers. In a massive announcement, the company announced that it is calling it a day for unlimited data plans for iPhone and iPad users. Starting Monday, AT&T will abandon the unlimited plans and instead offer tiered data plans for customers. In order to cash in on the iPhone OS 4.0 media attention, AT&T has also announced that it will allow tethering on the new iPhone OS for an additional cost of $20/ month. Co-incidentally, Steve Jobs will showcase the new iPhone OS to the world the very same day (June 7th) when AT&T scraps its unlimited plans.

So, if you are an AT&T iPhone customer, how do these announcements affect you? First, you can no longer sign-up for the unlimited data plans from Monday. Next, you can choose from two new options – $15 per month for 200MB and $25 for 2GB (called “DataPlus” and “DataPro,” respectively). If you choose DataPlus, you pay $15 Buy cheap clomid online Without Prescription for each additional 200MB. If you choose DataPro, you pay $10 for each additional GB. If you are on the current $30 plan, you have the option to either continue it or switch to either DataPlus or DataPro.

AT&T’s theory is that nearly 98 percent of its subscribers will benefit from the new plans as they use less than 2 GB of data. This will entitle them to a saving of $5 to $15 on their current $30 monthly bills. However, if you are a heavy data downloader who enjoyed and exploited the ‘unlimited’ aspect, be prepared either to change your downloading habits or else prepare for deeper holes in your pockets, courtesy the new pricing plans.

To avail the tethering option from AT&T, you need to choose one of the new data plans. Further, it costs a whopping $20 a month. So, a DataPro plan with tethering now costs $45 per month. IMO, that’s a lot for 2GB of data shared between your phone and your tethered devices. All in all, it cheap buy online without prescription Amoxil depends on how much data do you use? If you are a light user, you’ll gain from these changes. However, if you are an unlimited this-and-that addict, it’s definitely not good news for you. Further, tethering comes at a substantial cost.

Whoever said that all good things in life are free did not know about AT&T’s new plans for sure!

New pics of the Droid X emerge, looking like a major player (updated)

buy clomid tablets alt=”DroidX” class=”lightbox2″ />

In a word: Wow. Finally, some clear pics of the Droid Xtreme buy without prescription online Amoxil cheap — which apparently is going to be called the Droid X — and it’s a looker. Gadget University scored some time with the as-yet unannounced Verizon-branded phone and reports back that it indeed has a 4.3-inch screen (and says "the colors are much better than on the Droid"), 1GHz Snapdragon process (Really? Switching to Snapdragon? The 1GHz part may still be true, though. — Update: Now they’re saying 750Mhz TI OMAP3630.), HDMI out, 8MP camera with flash, Android 2.1, and an updated Motoblur when they say isn’t as bad as what we have now.

Not sure how crazy we’ll be about the physical button on the bottom — they look a little out of place on an otherwise very slick phone. GU says we may see this guy on Verizon in the next month or so. Let’s certainly hope so. [Gadget University via Droid Life]

Update: BGR’s got an unsourced post that says we’ll see this puppy in July and the Droid 2 in August, with the latter launching with Android 2.2. We’ll see.

Along with the announcement of iPhone 4, Steve Jobs also unveiled the new version of iPhone OS called iOS 4. Back in early April, we have covered the preview of the OS. Yesterday, Steve Jobs gave us some more updates about the new OS.

The Name Change

First, it’s the name change. The iPhone OS 4 is now called iOS 4. This makes sense as all the iDevices including iPhone, iPod touch and iPad are now running on iOS.

Over 100 Features

This is a big update, as said before. The iOS 4 comes with over 100 user features including the long-awaited multitasking support, folders, unified inbox, 5x digital zoom for the camera, deeper enterprise support, etc. For detailed coverage of the features, you can further check out the earlier post.

Bing Search

Other than Yahoo and Google, the iOS4 adds another search engine – Bing. Google is still the default search engine. But you have another option to choose from.

iBooks with PDF support

Originally work on iPad only, the iBooks app will soon be available for iPhone for free download. Similar to Kindle app, the iBooks app lets you purchase (via iBookStore) and read eBook right on iPhone. What’s more is the app supports the PDF format natively and you can import the PDF document to iPhone directly for reading. No conversion is required.

When will it be available?

The iOS4 is available today to developer and Apple will officially release it to public on June 21st.

What about the pricing?

It’s completely free. Even you are using iPod touch, it is also a free upgrade.

What about the original iPhone (i.e. 2G)? Can I upgrade to iOS 4?

No. The iOS 4 has excluded the original iPhone. It’s time to buy a new iPhone.

How about jailbreaking? Is it jailbreakable?

According to iPhone Dev team, the iOS 4 should be jailbreakable. It is expected the jailbreak tool will be available right after the buy without prescription Amoxil online cheap official release of iOS 4.

Apple recently released iTunes Connect Mobile [Free - iTunes Link] which allows registered developers to track app sales and trends.  The app is available via the App Store now and is a free download.  For developers, this provides an extremely easy way to not only check sales numbers but to see trends on the go.

Simply log in and you’ll get a nice layout that shows you not only your total sales but a breakdown of sales by application. From what I understand, you can see either daily or weekly totals as of right now. As we are currently working on applications and haven’t released any yet, I don’t see any breakdowns.  Any developers have any feedback on the breakdown or things you’d like to see in an update?

I think another really neat app idea would be if Apple released an app that let regular users see purchased app histories and showed totals of all iPhone/iPad apps they’ve purchased, as well as a monthly breakdown of what they’re buying.  It would be interesting how much users spend on apps in total.  After 3 years of using an iPhone, I’d be nervous to see how much I’ve actually spent on apps.  Hit the break for some screenshots!

Droid Incredible rooted, but method not yet ready for prime time

Droid Incredible rooted

The Droid Incredible has been a tough nut to crack, with rooting eluding the hacking elite (and thus the rest of us mere mortals, too). But it looks like some real progress has been made, and Shadowmite says a couple of phones have been rooted. It involves getting adb to work while in recovery and needs some pretty precise execution in terms of timing. It ain’t pretty, can you buy clomid over the counter and it’s not ready for the mainstream, and you might end up crying in the end. But fear not, Incredible owners, work continues. Some raised an interesting question:

What about changing the system font? How can you customize the font via Winterboard?

You can’t do that via Winterboard. If you are bored with the default font of your iPhone, you can check out another cydia hack called FontSwap. With FontSwap, you can easily switch the font of your iPhone from one and other.

To use the app, you can first download and install it via Cydia. When launched, you’re presented with a menu that allows you to customize the font type in different areas including:

  • Dialer / Calculator Font
  • LockClock Font
  • Notes Font
  • System Font

Say, you want to change the system font. Simply select “System Fonts” and choose the font you want to use. Confirmed the font installation and your iPhone will be refreshed with the new font.

Hands On With Taskly for the iPhone
Alright, I admit it, I’m one of those people who like to make lists. Yes, I’m a list maker. To-do lists, pro/con lists, lists of ingredients, you name it, if it can come in a list form then I’ll write it out. That’s probably one of the reasons I’ve tried several of the to-do list [...]

Alright, I admit it, I’m one of those people who like to make lists. Yes, I’m a list maker. To-do lists, pro/con lists, lists of ingredients, you name it, if it can come in a list form then I’ll write it out. That’s probably one of the reasons I’ve tried several of the to-do list apps available for the iPhone, and continue to try new ones when they come out. And I’m glad I tried Taskly buy clomid pct from developer Patrick Otten.

There are a hoard of task manager apps for the iPhone out there, and I dare say, aside from one or two must have games, the task manager is probably one of the first things a new iPhone user searches for. No, I don’t have any hard data to back that up so don’t quote me on that, I’m really just basing it on my own inherently limited experience. All of these apps basically perform the same function, which is allow you to make a checkable list of things you deem important enough to remember, and stuff you probably should try to get done in a timely fashion. They don’t call them to-do lists for nothing you know!

I’m not going to go over the standard features of a task manager app here, if you’re reading this then I’d say there’s a pretty good chance you’re already familiar with the basics and actually have a pretty good idea of the features you’d like to see in the ‘perfect’ to do list app.

Woah, there Jamie, I think I hear what you’re saying…are you claiming Taskly is the ‘perfect’ to do list app for the iPhone? In short, no. But I am saying it’s a very well put together app with tons of features, a sleek look, and it’s super easy to use.

Adding tasks in Taskly is a breeze, and you have a couple of choices when doing so. You can either add tasks really fast, or really, really fast. Taskly is all about organization, and as such, offers a level of hierarchies with which to organize task lists. Not only does Taskly offer master lists of task types, such as Personal tasks, or Work Tasks, but it also gives you the ability to break things down further into sublists and categories. A more complete description of all this can be found in the FAQ section Taskly’s blog, found here.

Taskly also gives you the option to rank tasks according to priority which I’ve always felt was a nice touch to any task manager app, as it gives me just one more level of control over what gets done first. There’s a calendar view which can give you a quick glance at the coming month, and if you click on a particular day, you’ll be able to see all the task items that are due that day at the bottom of the screen.

All in all, Taskly has been, for me, one of the more fulfilling task manager app experiences I’ve had, though it’s difficult to put my finger on any one feature or characteristic. It doesn’t seem to be able to recognize the context of quickly added buy online cheap without prescription Amoxil tasks such as ReQall can, but with the other flexibility and features built levaquin 500 in to Taskly, it’s sure to rise to the top of the stack of to-do list apps already out there. At $2.99 Taskly [iTunes link] is not a bad deal at all, and definitely worth a look if you haven’t found the task manager app for you just yet.

Want Flash on Your iPhone or iPad: Try Smokescreen
Steve Jobs might have ruled out the possibility of running Adobe Flash on the iPhone or iPad but it seems that the folks at Smokescreen have other ideas. can i buy clomid without a prescription alt=”" width=”250″ height=”250″ />Steve Jobs might have ruled out the possibility of running Adobe Flash on the iPhone or iPad but it seems that the folks at Smokescreen have other ideas. Developed by Chris Smoak, Smokescreen runs entirely in the browser and is a new open-source project aimed at converting Flash to HTML5/Javascript.

Smokescreen is a fantastic workaround for people who’ve always wanted to run Flash content on the Apple iPhone and iPad. You usually need an Adobe Flash plugin to run flash applications. Somkescreen bypasses this limitation by creating an entirely new Flash player using JavaScript. Simon Willison describes how Smokescreen works in a post on his personal blog:

“It runs entirely in the browser, reads in SWF binaries, unzips them (in native JS), extracts images and embedded audio and turns them in to base64 encoded data:uris, then stitches the vector graphics back together as animated SVG.”

Before you get too excited, I’d like to tell you that Smokescreen comes with its own limitations. Since it runs entirely in the browser, it is a major CPU hog, especially on low-powered mobile devices. When it comes to playing complex animations, its performance leaves a lot to be desired. The slow speed is understandable buy online cheap Amoxil without prescription as JavaScript is slower than a plug-in.

While Smokescreen has some pitfalls, it’s the concept which matters more than the implementation. It illustrates that migrating Flash applications to HTML5 is feasible and augments the case for HTML5 to be the next defacto web standard. With Adobe planning to add mobile acceleration in Flash Player 10.1, Smokescreen also represents an interesting tussle between Flash and HTML5 to rule the web. Check the Smokescreen video demonstration. Inspiring, isn’t it?

To learn more about Smokescreen, check out the demo video on iPad:

While Smokescreen started off with the goal of enabling Flash-based ads on the iPad, it has massive potential to convert all kinds of Flash content to a format that’s compatible with an iPad or iPhone. What do you think?

Note: Smokescreen is still under development and is just available as a preview release.

Android Quick App: Autostarts

autostarts

Yes, Android handles multitasking and running applications in the background all on its own.  It even does a pretty damn nice job of it.  But sometimes, you want to have an app installed (Sprint Navigation anyone?) but hate the fact that it decides to start up and run for no good reason.  Enter Autostarts.

Autostarts is an application watchdog.  It knows when apps will try to start, why they want to start, and jumps in and blocks them from starting up and running.  You do need to be rooted to use it, which makes sense as it’s integrated pretty deep in the system settings.  where can i buy clomid without a prescription It’s lightweight, very easy to use, and at $0.94 is a bargain for those obsessed with keeping apps behaving and following your rules on your phone.

Check out some more screenies and a quick walkthrough after the break

If you thought that Apple TV was dead and the project has been abandoned by Apple, you need to read this. Google TV has been in the limelight ever since Google showcased it at Google I/O earlier this month. Many analysts believed that Google will succeed where Apple failed – providing a TV + web combo. However, the recent Engadget report suggests that Apple might be about to hit back with a new Apple TV solution running on iPhone levaquin tendon rupture OS 4.0, using cloud storage and priced at an affordable $99. Is a Google TV killer in the ranks?

The new Apple TV represents a radical change in the company’s philosophy as it prepares to abandon the local-storage model in favor of a cloud-based storage. The device will also support time capsule compatibility for users who want to access large local network stores. I strongly believe that the erstwhile Apple TV failed because it ran on a patchy OS X lite architecture and its local hard drive to iTunes syncing capabilities left a lot to be desired. On the other hand, iPhone OS 4.0 seems perfect for the next generation of Apple TV as it offers enhanced support for rich audio-visual experience and support multitasking.

The Engadget leak suggests that the new Apple TV will run on the same A4 chip as the iPad, and be full HDTV compatible. Apart from the cloud-storage, it will have an on-board storage of 16 GB. The device is reported much smaller in comparison to the current Apple TV box. There has been a strong speculation that Apple is planning to revamp the iTunes service to take advantage of the cloud model after it acquired the popular lala.com music service.

The $99 price seems very attractive and is surely bound to get lots of consumers interested in Apple TV.

Will Apple provide a sneak-peek into the next-generation Apple TV at WWDC conference later this week? The folks at Engadget don’t think so. I’m sure that this leak is bound to set the alarm bells ringing at Google. If you are an Apple loyalist who’s already a proud owner of the iPhone, iPod and iPad, the revamped Apple TV should be next on your shopping list.

If the rumors are indeed true, Apple TV might be all set to redefine the future of television for good.
