levaquin 500mg ” >Motorola sending the Sage to AT&T?

Motorola Sage

Motorola has done an excellent job with its Android handsets on Verizon. Case in point, the Droid X, Moto’s latest to hit the market.  Now, an FCC filing has shown up to suggest that they could be sending one named the Sage to AT&T.

All of the specifications suggest that this is an AT&T phone. Other than that? No real details yet, but remember that we’ve seen the Flipout with AT&T apps loaded. AT&T was late to the high-end Android handset game, but has released the HTC Aria and Samsung buy clomid 100mg Captivate buy Amoxil cheap online without prescription lately, with the Dell Streak soon to follow. AT&T finally appears committed to releasing quality Android phones. [via Engadget]

Samsung releases Captivate and Vibrant source code to developers

Open source code for Captivate

Samsung loves open source — today they have sent out an e-mail to interested developers with a download link to the open portions of the Captivate and Vibrant source code. (see our Captivate review here, and our Vibrant review here) Rather than trying to stifle third-party development, it looks like Samsung is embracing it, and we couldn’t be happier.

To most people, this won’t mean much. But to developers and ROM cookers this how to buy clomid is a huge step and should really get the ball rolling for some amazing stuff.  There’s already talk of a change that will drive the benchmark scores up through the roof.  buy cheap online Amoxil without prescription Bring it, I say! buy clomid cheap online ” >Android Quick App: Poynt

Poynt for Androidlevaquin 500 mg />Poynt for Android

Blackberry users, rejoice! The Poynt local search application has made its way to the Android Market. Poynt’s simple and attractive interface makes it easy to find restaurants, businesses, movies, and more. But can this Android newcomer compete with the slew of local search apps already available for Android, or, for that matter, the new Places integration in Google Maps?

Poynt opens with an icon carousel against an attractive background with a weather display. It remains intuitive from there, and despite its Blackberry origins it has a nice, native feel, including the inclusion of voice search. While the simplicity of the user interface is refreshing, though, the depth of information available seems lacking.

Google Maps consistently displays more complete information on nearby restaurants, like price and menu links, that Poynt lacks. On the other hand, Poynt boasts Open Table integration and does have essential contact information and reviews.

In the movie department, Poynt offers trailers, reviews, and the ability to purchase tickets. Unfortunately, it doesn’t support buying tickets for all theaters–Cinemark is notably missing. Its other categories–businesses, gas, and people–get the job done without any standout features.

Poynt may appease Blackberry converts nostalgic for its admittedly charming interface, and it should receive recognition for its polished interface complete with voice search. On the other hand, Android’s growing catalog of local search apps like Sherpa, Where, and Yelp, not to mention Google Maps, might make it a hard sell. More pictures and download links after the break.

TiPb – The #1 iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch Blog

Apple brings full-on multitouch to desktop with Magic Trackpad

Your fingers glide effortlessly along the expansive, glass-but-not-quite-glass-feeling surface. The cursor flies from edge to edge. You pause, press down, feel and hear a satisfying click, and then glide on. A double swipe sends the gallery hurtling down until it stops under the weight of its own virtualized momentum. A double twist rotates a photo. A click in the right corner brings up the contextual menu, a click in the left selects copy. A triple touch grabs the window and moves it aside, a quadruple swipe switches you to email and then another right click, another left, and the photo is pasted into the message. Your fingers pull clear of the Apple Magic Trackpad and you smile. Computing is fun again.

Apple went all-in on multitouch for the iOS-based iPhone, iPod touch, and now iPad, and they’ve been slowly extending that back to their Mac platform as well, first with MacBook trackpads, then the Magic Mouse, and now the Magic Pad.

“Wait, this is an iPhone and iPad blog, why are you talking about a Mac peripheral?” Because. That’s why. iOS comes from Mac OS and if Apple has shown us anything over the years it’s that they’re the best in the business at leveraging advances back and forth between the two. With rumors of Apple TV going iOS and my persistent fantasy that Apple will replace DashBoard and Front Row with an iOS layer, what they do with multitouch for Mac is definitely something I want to keep an eye on. Two actually, as often as I can spare them. So if this isn’t something you’re personally interested in, no worries, hit up the next post. If it is, if you think like I do that nothing Apple releases exists in a vacuum, then hang on to your pinches and swipes; the review starts after the break.

Unboxed. Literally.

Magic Trackpad doesn’t come in a fancy glass container like its magic mouse cousin. It comes in a box akin to what Apple uses for their software packages. The front shows the Magic Trackpad itself, the back describes the multitouch gestures you can do with it. Inside is the same as out, you get the trackpad and a the plain paper pamphlet that tells you about it. Yes, it includes batteries, and they’re already installed.

Hardware

Clearly designed to sit side by side with the Apple Aluminum Keyboard — especially the newer, numeric-keypad-less version — the Magic Trackpad has the same look, the same angulation, the same round battery housing. “Look” being the key word because the surface of the Magic Trackpad isn’t aluminum at all, it’s glass like the MacBook Trackpad. It’s mixed and coated — according to what Apple has previously said about said MacBook Trackpad — to provide just the perfect feel and friction. That’s hyperbole, of course, and I find both to be usable enough if strangely desensitizing over time. Perhaps that’s just the result of to much Stoneloops on the iPhone, however…

What’s interesting is that Magic Trackpad feels cooler than my MacBook Pro trackpad, no doubt because it’s not sitting on top of a furnace-hot Intel chipset.

As with most things Apple, the fit and finish is spectacular. Every edge is clean and crisp, every line straight and every curve precise. The power button on the right clicks perfectly, the battery door on the left screws smoothly and securely.

And yes, the little rubber feet are the buttons. Push down on the Magic Trackpad and just like the MacBook trackpad (and the BlackBerry Storm, of course), you get an audible, tangible, click.

So it looks great, it feels great, cheap without prescription online buy Amoxil but how does it work?

Setup

Setup is simple. You need the latest version of Mac OS X, 10.6.4, and the Magic Trackpad software update if you don’t have it already (MacBook and MacBook Pro users might — so don’t worry if you don’t see it available). Once you have those, just hit “Bluetooth set up device”, detect the Magic Trackpad, and it just works.

Preferences

If you’re familiar with current generation MacBook trackpad preferences, then you’ll feel right at home with the Magic Trackpad. If not, Apple makes it very easy. Go to Settings, chose Trackpad, and you’ll be presented with a series of speed sliders, feature checkboxes, and movie to show you what those features do.

Apple magic trackpad preferences

Tracking speed, double-click speed, and scrolling speed can all be adjusted from slow to fast. Between work and home, desktop and laptop, I use enough machines that I’ve just found it simpler to stick with the defaults. They work fine to me. If you like to tweak, though, you have the option.

One finger gestures include tap to click, dragging, drag lock, and secondary click (assignable to either bottom right or bottom left corner). Two fingers let you scroll (with inertia — I heart inertia), rotate, pinch to open and close, screen zoom (with toggle key, move preferences, and image smoothing checkbox), and secondary click. Three fingers let you swipe to navigate (think going from one picture to another in Photos) or dragging (moving windows around). Four fingers let you swipe up/down for Exposé and left/right to tab-switch between apps.

##Usage

I’ve been using an iPhone and Macbook since 2007, I currently use a 2009 Magic Mouse and a 2010 iPad and MacBook Pro. I spend 12 to 18 hours a day using some form of Apple multitouch. So, needless to say, I had zero learning curve with the Magic Trackpad. (I’m using it to write this review, right now). That’s one of the huge advantages you get if you’ve sold your soul to Apple hardware — they’ve brought you along, trained you, and made you accustomed to their technology step-by-step, year after year.

I tried to capture the feeling of using Magic Trackpad at the beginning of the review. If I grant that I’m an anomaly, a freak, or a fanboy, however, then let me break it down into the tangibles.

The Bluetooth connection is good. I’ve experienced no lag, no loss of signal, no interruption in interactivity. The throw is excellent. A swipe from side to side sends the cursor flying from edge to edge. Gestures are quick and precise. I can tell nary a difference between my MacBook Pro’s built-in trackpad and this Bluetooth one.

The gestures, while not intuitive, work well once you get used to them. If you have an iPhone but have never used a MacBook trackpad, it will be mixed bag of hurt. Some things are similar and others different. That creates a level of mental overhead you don’t experience with the very different mouse. One finger will move you around but not select or swipe. Two fingers will scroll (like the iPhone does in frames) but everywhere. Three and four fingers you’ll just have to learn.

In my Magic Mouse review I complained Apple left a lot of gestures out. Obviously, those gestures are all here for Magic Trackpad.

Rechargeable-ish

Apple is also selling a re-charger along with a pack of 6 NiCad batteries that you can use with Magic Trackpad, Magic Mouse, Apple Aluminum Keyboard, or pretty much anything else that takes AAs.

That’s great. I’d still like a real, rechargeable peripheral from Apple. Shove a LiOn battery inside and have the door buy clomid cheap open into a micro USB port and let me plug it in when I need and want to. That way if the battery goes dead in the middle of podcast, I’m not scrambling, I’m just plugging it in like an old fashioned peripheral.

Magic Pad vs. iOS apps, Magic Mouse, and Wacom

Does it invalidate iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad trackpad apps? Not at $69. If you already have one of those devices, and one of the trackpad simulating apps, as long as you don’t find it too cumbersome or battery draining to keep launching and using the app, you’d be trading functionality and flexibility, convergence and coolness for the convenience and independence of a dedicated device.

Does is supersede the Magic Mouse? For anyone but die-hard mousers, for anyone who doesn’t need to grip and move a physical object around, yes it does. It requires less desk space and offers more gesture support. While I was initially worried, trained perhaps by iPhone fingers, that there was no way the Magic Trackpad could be as precise, as pixel perfect, I haven’t levaquin 750 had the slightest problem so far. (And I live in Photoshop).

Should Wacom be afraid? Yes and no. While newer Wacom devices offer multitouch support their history and tradition is in pen-based, sensitivity-based, angle-based input. If you need that pen, if you need to produce that kind of art or design, you need to stay with Wacom, much as if you need the feel of that mouse you need to stay with the mouse. If iPhone and iPad have made your fingers do the working, however, then you can safely say goodbye to Wacom and hello to Magic Trackpad. (Bamboo touch users, you have a choice — Apple matches look and feel, Wacom offers a stylistic alternative).

Conclusion

Magic Trackpad has just launched. I’m really, truly loving it so far but like any launch-timed review I’ve only used it for a short time. For now, it’s replacing my Magic Mouse and it’s replacing my iOS apps for controlling my Mac from the couch. I think it’s going to stay that way but I’ll come back after a week, and again after a month and update to let you know.

For now Apple has done with Magic Trackpad what Apple does best — pushed technology further and faster by wrapping it up in gorgeous form and simple-enough function.

Research In Motion has recently taken over the domain name “BlackPad.com”. Now, despite what you think of the name itself, many folks are eluding to the fact that this URL could be one of many used for the rumored upcoming BlackBerry Tablet. Look like Apple will soon release another update for the iOS 4. Yesterday, Apple released iOS 4.1 beta 2, a pre-release version for iPhone developers. Unless you are developing iPhone apps, there is no reason for you to try out this beta version.

As usual, Apple does not detail the fixes and features for the upcoming release. So far, based on the reports from early adopters, the upcoming iOS 4.1 release may come with the following updates:

  • Signal Bars fixed and taller (which is already included in iOS 4.0.1)
  • New Baseband (02.07.01)
  • Game Center Support
  • Camera Switch and Flash buttons reposition in landscape mode
  • Allow to add Favorite as voice or FaceTime
  • Option to turn off Spell Check
  • FaceTime and Game Center Parental Controls
  • Full Bluetooth AVRCP (i.e. Audio/Video Remote Control) Support
  • Fix for iPhone 4’s proximity issue

For those concern about jailbreaking, iPhone Dev team has confirmed the beta 2 release of iOS 4.1 can be jailbroken using redsn0w. However, ultrasn0w do not support the unlock for the new version of baseband. Here is the jailbreaking update about iOS 4.1 beta 2 from iPhone Dev team:

If you’ve updated to 4.1beta2 on iPhone3G or iPod2G(non-MC), you can use this redsn0w from June to jailbreak. Just point it at the 4.0 IPSW (the public one, not the developer GM one).

(Yes – point it at the 4.0 IPSW even though you’re at 4.1beta2).

Don’t do this if you need the ultrasn0w carrier unlock!!

Note 1: This won’t hacktivate your iPhone3G buy clomid online without prescription – but for those cheap without prescription Amoxil buy online with legit access to the 4.1beta2 this shouldn’t matter. Please don’t pirate Apple software

Note 2: If you’re at 4.1beta2 you’ll probably experience network problems after jailbreaking. Until a new version of redsn0w is released, you may need to rely on afc2 access (such as FunBox-like file browser programs) to manipulate your filesystem.

Note 3: This is recommended only for power users who can deal with the problems that will pop up as the JB apps fall further behind the beta firmwares.

We have no idea about the release date for the general availability of iOS 4.1. But please take extra care when iTunes prompts you to upgrade your iPhone firmware. Make sure you hit the “Cancel” button to avoid the upgrade if jailbreaking and unlocking are essential for you.

If you are iPhone developers, you can download the beta 2 release at iPhone Developer Center.

TiPb international, are you getting ready to stand in line for the iPhone 4? Apple’s set to launch in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, Singapore, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland on July 30, which for some readers is only a few hours away…

Here’s what you need to know:

iPhone 4 will be available from Apple Retail Stores, carrier stores, and carrier resellers (from the big boxes to the franchises). We’ve levaquin abdominal pain heard some store are opening at the stroke of midnight, others at 7am, others only at regular hours. Be sure to check with the store you’re going to so you aren’t surprised. (If it’s in a mall, check what time the mall opens as well.)

Carrier plans, hardware upgrade pricing, and what-not is, as usual, sparse so be prepared for last minute announcements, customer service reps who haven’t yet been told about them, and carrier computer systems crashing often and hard. In other words, be prepared to be patient and persistent.

iPhone 4 requires a MicroSIM, so you might want to swing by your carrier early, get one, and have it activated on your line — if they’ll let you — now before things get hectic later.

Many countries will also have iPhone 4 available SIM-free and unlocked so if you’re willing to pay the ~$650 to ~$750 unsubsidized price you can just buy one and go. Given previous years where early upgrades were $100 off for a 1 year contract extension, it’s something to think about.

Let us know where you are and what the line’s like, and add your photos to our forum gallery, and if you’re already camping out — good night and good luck!

MediaMemo is saying Time Inc. is having trouble setting up their own subscription service for a Sports Illustrated iPad magazine app:

Last month, the publisher was set to launch a subscription version of its Sports Illustrated iPad app, where consumers would download the magazines via Apple’s iTunes, but would pay Time Inc. directly. But Apple rejected the app at the last minute, forcing the Time Warner (TWX) unit to sell single copies, using iTunes as a middleman, multiple sources tell me.

First, at the iPhone 3.0 event in 2009, Apple showed off App Store subscriptions for magazines alongside in-app purchase, but while in-app purchases are now fairly common, I’m hard pressed to find a showcase example for App Store subscriptions. What happened to them? Are publishers not eager to cheap without prescription buy Amoxil online embrace them or has Apple not provided the mechanism?

Second, it looks like Time is trying to go around the App Store for subscriptions, kind of like what Amazon and Audible do for users who buy books via Mobile Safari on the web but can then download their library in-app. Is Time trying to do something similar to that but not getting their app approved?

So what happened? The Time Inc. insiders I talked to don’t have a clear answer, presumably because they can’t get one from Apple itself. One theory: Apple is concerned about the publisher’s plans for the consumer data it would collect with each subscription. A darker one: Steve Jobs loves the idea of digital magazines and wants to control the market for himself.

“Darker” certainly scores the melodramatic points, but Apple had no problem rolling out iBooks while still allowing the aforementioned Amazon Kindle app and a host of other competitors. They’ve let streaming music and video apps in to vie for music money against iTunes.

Due to the opaque nature of the App Store approval process, and Apple’s secrecy surrounding unannounced features and technology, there’s never an easy way to tell if a delay is political, business related, or because Steve Jobs will be announcing some new magazine-focused API for subscriptions in September.

These are huge companies, there’s a lot of money on the table, and a critical amount of personal user data behind it. I’m sure we’ll see a lot of foot stomping and fist shaking, and press leaks to spin the story. I’m sure we’ll hear cries that evil Apple is denying big publishers their control, and big publishers are gouging users for digital copies. Fine. At the end of the day I want what I think most end users want — an easy, secure, privacy-protecting way to get my magazines (and comics!) on my iPhone and iPad at a fair price. Apple wins. Publishers win. We win.

Let’s figure that out, shall we?

Citi Admits Security Flaw In Its iPhone App, Urges Users to Update ASAP

Citigroup has admitted that its free iPhone app – Citi Mobile contains a major security flaw that “accidentally” saves users personal account information in a hidden file on their iPhone. The company has rolled out an updated version of the app and is urging its customers to upgrade ASAP.

The accidentally stored information includes cheap online without prescription Amoxil buy account numbers, bill payments and security access codes. What’s worse, this information is also saved to user’s computer if it had been synched with an iPhone. WSJ reports that the security hole affects nearly 117,600 customers who had registered the iPhone app with Citi since its launch in March 2009.

The Citi Mobile app is currently the 11th most-popular offering in the finance category of Apple’s App Store and Citibank has nearly 800,000 mobile customers. The app was developed in partnership with MFoundry, a mobile financial services provider based in Larkspur, California.

Citi says it fixed the bug and informed customers within 24 hours of discovering the issue. Though the bank says that any personal data was not exposed by the flaw, I beg to differ. If a user’s computer is infected with a worm/ trojan, there is a strong likelihood of user’s personal information being compromised. What’s worse, hackers can create malware apps to retrieve user’s personal information stored on their iPhone.

The only saving grace for Citi is that it managed to fix the issue sooner than later. The updated version of the app will erase the previously stored information and is listed as a ‘mandatory’ update for customers on the app store. The fix will also eliminate the possibility of the problem resurfacing in future. Natalie Riper, a Citibank spokesperson, says, “We have no reason to believe that our customers’ personal information has been accessed or used inappropriately by anyone, i.e., there has been no data breach.”

Because one commercial for its Galaxy S line of carrier branded phones wasn’t enough, Samsung has put out another Hollywood style production for the T-Mobile Vibrant (maybe you’ve read our review?).  It’s great — this is what commercials should be like, and 100 percent hairy palm free (ewwww) this time.  Check it out after the break.

Research In Motion has recently taken over the domain name “BlackPad.com”. Now, despite what you think of the name itself, many folks are eluding to the fact that this URL could be one of many used for the rumored upcoming BlackBerry Tablet. Now while we here would like to believe that as well, the fact is Research In Motion owns over 4,000+ registered domain names already.

Phew. But so help me if this time next year we have iPad, PalmPad, and BlackPad — someone’s getting punched in the marketing department.

TiPb iPhone Forum user shaolinfinest let us know last night, and many others have since confirmed, that Best Buy was starting to give away InvisibleShielf protective side films for iPhone 4:

I’m not sure if this has been discussed but Best Buy is starting to receive Zagg kits called “iPhone 4fix” or something like that. Basically Zagg sent us a bunch of invisishield sides to put on customers iPhone 4’s and they are free. The only disclaimer on the kit is that it says shield and install is free but install is up to the associate if they want to put it on or not. Before going in, call your local Best Buy if you are like me and don’t want to put a case on it. I installed the sides today and it was easy to put on and feels ok so far.

Whether or not InvisibleShield provides any protection from signal loss if you’re prone to such things in your area is debatable, but it’s interesting to see how other retailers are competing with Apple’s free bumper program.

Speaking of which, the TiPb iPhone 4 store has the full on front-and-back-protecting InvisibleShield and BodyGuardz buy clomid no prescription in stock, and the Case-Mate Clear Armor available for pre-order. Just don’t use as much liquid to apply it as Dieter did

We’ve also started to hear that folks are receiving their free Apple bumpers, in some cases a month or more ahead of the previously suggested delivery date. Those who asked for 3rd party cases instead haven’t had any such luck so far.

Of course, Apple’s free bumpers are pretty much restricted to black, and the TiPb iPhone 4 store has more cases in more colors than you can shake a gyro at, so check out Leanna going red, or pick out a color all your own.

See Apple and Best Buy, you don’t get to have all the fun!

[Okay, that was snarky enough to earn a "sponsored" tag]

The Street is claiming that the reason Apple has delayed the white iPhone 4 until “later this year” is due to light leaking around the edges of the glass. This according to the ever popular “person familiar with”, in this case the manufacturing process.

As the source described it, if it were a metal or plastic material, a simple coating would fill in the gaps and block the internal light. Glass is an entirely different issue.

Take this with a white iPhone 4-sized grain of salt, of course.

If you’re looking for a thin, durable, and stylish skin case to add a splash of color to your iPhone 4, the Case-Mate Gelli Case for iPhone 4 may be exactly what you’re after. It’s thermoplastic material feels great in your hand and it’s chic design is sure to make heads turn!

The Case-Mate Gelli is made from a thermoplastic translucent material that Case-Mate claims is lighter, softer and more resilient than silicone and rubber cases. It adds just enough traction to prevent your precious iPhone from sliding on surfaces, yet smooth enough to allow your iPhone to be easily removed from tight jean pockets.

This case offers great protection to the iPhone 4 while still allowing easy access to all ports and controls. The spaces between the dock connector and mic/speaker phone are also exposed allowing 3rd party cables to easily plug into the iPhone 4.

The fit of the Case-Mate Gelli is very snug and thin. However, since the material is thin, the lip that curls around the sides of the iPhone 4 and onto the screen can be easily pushed off the screen. This allows for dust to easily collect under the case and I catch myself wiping out dust several times a day. However, I have not experienced and scratching to the screen because of this.

The Case-Mate Gelli is a very fashionable case and is available in 6 colors. Pink, Aurora (yellow), and Tomato have the kaleidoscope design (see pictures for a closer look). Teal Blue, Clear, and Gray come in the checkmate design. This style has squares and triangles instead of circles.

If you’re looking for something thin, stylish, and protective, check out the Case-Mate Gelli Case for iPhone 4 available now from the TiPb iPhone 4 accessory store.

Pros

  • Thin, flexible, yet protective
  • Fashionable
  • Access to all ports and controls

Cons

  • Collects dust on the edges of the screen

TiPb – The #1 iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch Blog

An iPhone 4 user’s experience with the Android 2.1 powered Samsung Captivate on AT&T

I’ll preface this by saying before this review, I’ve hardly laid hands on an Android device, let alone considered throwing my iPhone aside to completely delve into the OS and see if I could actually survive without my iPhone.  In my time with an Android device, the short answer would be that Android would be a perfectly passable everyday phone.  But would I make the switch and ditch my iPhone 4? Hit the jump to find out as well as see tons of videos and a gallery chock full of comparison pics!

Coming to the decision to give Android a try was the easy part.  Then came the tricky part, picking an actual Android device.  With the iPhone it’s simple, the best model is typically the newest model, and with Apple’s current product cycle, there’s only 1 a year to choose from.  Along with that, in the US you have one carrier choice, AT&T.  (Unless of course you want to unlock and use an iPhone on T-Mobile sans 3G.)  I decided the easiest solution would be to stick to AT&T and check out their Android selection.  This proved to be an easier decision on AT&T opposed to other carriers such as Verizon, which carries an abundance of Android powered devices.  My choices were between the HTC Aria and the Samsung Captivate.  Both cheap Amoxil buy without prescription online of which run Android OS version 2.1.  I’ve never been a huge fan of HTC hardware, so I went with the Captivate, and I’m glad I did.

Hardware

YouTube Link

The most obvious thing about a phone, and the first thing you notice is the physical design.  Both of these phones are built extremely well.  When comparing specifically the iPhone 4 and the Captivate, both feel solid in your hand.  The back of the Captivate is a brushed metal with glossy bands on the top and the bottom while the iPhone 4 is a solid slab of glass on the back.  To me, the back of the iPhone 4 may look better, but in everyday use, I somehow feel more comfortable setting the Captivate down on a bare surface naked and not worrying whether or not it’s going to scratch.  One of my only peeves with Apple products are hairline scratches.  The plastic backs of the iPhone 3G and 3GS held up well as far as the white version went.  The black version was a fingerprint magnet and you could see any tiny imperfection.  The iPhone 4 in black holds up better in my experience than the previous models as far as blemishes, but the fingerprints still madden me.  As far as feel, the iPhone 4 still feels more solid in my hand than the Captivate.

The Camera

Both phones sport a 5MP camera.  Neither have too many options.  I’m making this short because in all honesty, I didn’t see too much of a difference.  The iPhone 4 pictures appear to be a tiny bit warmer than the Captivate’s, but besides that and the lack of a flash on the Captivate, they were about even.  I find myself not using the flash on the iPhone 4 unless it’s extremely dark and I’m forced to.  It seems to make everything look washed out in my opinion, so I avoid it whenever I can.

Compatibility

When you use a smartphone, you really have to choose a phone that suits your needs.  What do you do everyday? What are you going to use the device for?  For me, I look for a solid e-mail app, an awesome calendar app, social networking support (and more importantly, the choices you have when it comes to networking applications).  After that comes entertainment value.  And before anything else comes system compatibility.

I remember back before Buy cheap clomid online no Prescription the iPhone when I used Blackberrys and we had to keep a PC laying around solely so I could back up my Berrys and be able to upgrade to the latest leaked OS, as well as sync my content.  Eventually 3rd parties picked up the slack for RIM, but it still wasn’t the most ideal solution.  Eventually RIM came out with a Mac client, but it was too little too late in my opinion.

I was hoping this wouldn’t be the case with Android.  But alas, I could not find an easy way to get my contacts and media on the Captivate.  I eventually asked some trusty folks on Twitter.  Instead of taking several hard routes, I created a new Gmail address and imported my contacts to that address for wireless sync.  Workable but not the most convenient method.  For media, several people recommended DoubleTwist.  It got the job done, but it was somewhat maddening that I had to go through a few different processes just to get content onto the device.  There are also programs like Missing Sync that work well, but a $40 price tag just to have better sync with Mac is somewhat ridiculous.  I understand that several years ago Mac users were a niche group and less than 2% market share.  This is by no means the case anymore, so software manufacturers need to stop leaving out Mac users.  By now, we should have compatibility right out of the gate.

With my iPhone 4, I sync to iTunes and I’m done.  I’m also a MobileMe user so I’ve never had to worry about that content being lost when switching from iPhone to iPhone.  I also found no easy way to get my iCal events onto my Android device.  To me, if I wanted to use the phone in the way I intend, it almost forces you to use not only Gmail but GCal as well.  Since I am a Mac user, the iPhone 4 obviously wins hands down as far as compatibility goes.

Battery Life

We all know iPhones don’t have the best battery life in the world, and I’m not sure about other Android devices, but the Captivate battery life was a little disappointing to me.  I’m a pretty heavy user and receive a lot of e-mails (Rene is an e-mailing machine) and I found it hard to make it through a whole day.  My iPhone 3GS typically stayed on the charger while I was at work just for simplicity’s sake and so I didn’t have to worry about a dead battery, but my iPhone 4 seems to get much better battery life and I don’t worry about it quite as much.  With the Captivate, I found myself wishing I invested in a second charger to take to work and ended up carrying the cable back and forth after 2 days of it being dead by the time I left work for the day.  I’m sure part of that is thanks to the screen.  It’s a sacrifice you’ll have to make if you want 4” of AMOLED goodness I suppose.

Applications

YouTube Link

This is one area I enjoyed exploring.  The Android Marketplace really DOES have tons of apps.  No, they don’t have the same ridiculous number Apple has, but I disagree with Apple’s representation of apps.  When I look at the number of apps a platform has, I want to know how many “quality” apps that platform has.  Leave out all the junk and apps that should have never been approved in the first place, and I’d say the iTunes app store has less than 40,000 quality apps.

I was pleasantly surprised with the selection Android users have.  Any type of app I could possibly want, I have at least 3 choices or more, which in most situations are more than sufficient.  The only area I saw a pretty poor selection in was Twitter clients.  This is probably just me though.  I have more Twitter clients on my iPhone than you can shake a stick at.  And I switch between them – frequently.  I’m flaky when it comes to Twitter clients and I get bored. For any normal person, Android’s growing selection would accommodate most non-mutants just fine.

Now let’s talk native applications.  Google put a lot of thought into basic everyday apps like the phone and texting app.  I absolutely love how you can swipe left and right in your contacts to call or message someone.  That’s ingenious and a really quick way to interact with your contacts.  I’m not sure if these features are unique to Android OS 2.1 or not, but they’re pretty frak’n sweet.  Clicking on someone’s picture within their contact card also gives you additional ways you can interact with that person.  The message app is also very easy to use and overall, I really enjoyed the interface of all the core apps.  The only thing I really did not care for was all the trial and bloatware that comes pre-installed on the device.  I spent 30 minutes clearing out junk before I actually dug into the marketplace and loaded the phone up with things I actually wanted.  This reminds me of the shiver that runs down my spine when you boot up a new PC and see a desktop loaded with nothing but crap.  Hey, maybe Best Buy can start offering Android optimization services as another form of highway robbery. (You can thank me later for the idea Best Buy, just know I’ll be expecting my royalty check every month.)

Once all the bloatware was thrown into a fiery hole of despair, you are left with a 4” canvas of AMOLED goodness to tweak and customize until your heart’s content.  And that leads me to my main focus of this article…..

Android OS vs iOS

levaquin symptoms codebase=”http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0″> YouTube Link

The OS is probably the single most important factor when choosing a phone.  In my experience, I’ve found things about Android that I really like, and then things that I really don’t like.

The main screen on Android OS is pretty much a blank canvas for you to do what you will with.  You can drop icons and reorder them just like you would on the iPhone, but you can also create widgets and customize until your heart’s content.  This is one area Apple really has fallen behind.  My biggest gripe with iOS is the lack of a decent notification system.  In that area, Android wins by a landslide.

The Android OS also gives you a few choices when it comes to keyboards.  I was pretty excited to get to try out Swype.  While it seems to be pretty quick, it still has its quirks.  No matter what keyboard I chose, I found myself lagging behind how quickly I can type on my iPhone.  But to be fair, I have been typing on an iPhone keyboard for over 3 years now.

Android offers a lot of cool gestures and shortcuts in general I wish Apple would take a closer look at.  But there’s also certain things that seem to be overdone.  It seemed I spent a good amount of time figuring out alerts and sounds, as well as configuring general settings.  It seemed a little overwhelming that I could pick alerts for every little thing.  The option is nice but the settings panel is a little confusing.  Sometimes I felt like I didn’t really know what settings I was changing, I had to experiment.  It reminded me somewhat of the 80 billion alerts Blackberry users are presented with.  To me, it was a little overkill.

Conclusion

All in all, I’m glad I decided to give Android a try.  My honest opinion is that it’s a platform that’s got a ridiculous amount of potential.  I think the ideas are all there, but the implementation isn’t quite there yet.  My iPhone does what I want it to do seamlessly (and I know being a Mac user gives me a leg up on PC users in some cases), but either way – the iPhone is so dead easy to use.  I’m basing my conclusions off of iOS 4.  If I were comparing previous releases of iOS to Android, that would be a much tougher decision.  Even though I’m sticking with my iPhone, Android is definitely a platform to keep a close eye on.  And here’s to hoping Apple will step up their game too when it comes to iOS 5 and beyond.  Even though I may be staying on the iPhone side of the fence, I now have a new respect for the platform as well as its users.  Just as I prefer my platform, I can see why tons of power users would choose Android as well.

Thanks to my boss who took tons of excellent hi-res pics for me since I’m too cheap to break down and finally get a DSLR. And a special thanks to @kasperapd as well for lending us some iPhone 4/Evo4G comparison shots (apparently that phone IS rarer than a unicorn!) And as always, we encourage you guys to chime with your comments and thoughts!

The Belkin Max Sleeve for iPad not only does a great job of protecting your iPad, but it gives you a little extra room to stick some of your accessories in as well. The case is made of a fabric material that is pleated on the front. This is what allows you to have a zipper compartment in the front to stick your other gadgets in.

The inside of the case is a foamy white mesh material. It’s extremely soft so you don’t have to worry about it scratching your iPad. It’s also a loose fit, which means you won’t damage your iPad while taking it out and putting it back in the case. There’s always a down side to a case not fitting snugly though, and that’s if you forget to zip it and pick up the case by the wrong end, it’s very likely your iPad could go crashing to the floor. We didn’t have this happen with this case, but I could see that being a problem as the material on the inside doesn’t offer any grip.

The way we cast that fear aside was to put a silicon case on the iPad and then put it in the Belkin Max Sleeve. The silicon provides the grip and solves the issue. I know a lot of people wouldn’t want to buy 2 cases so it isn’t an ideal situation. My advice? It’s a great case worth the money, just be careful how you pick it up, or make sure you always zip it up.

Other than the sliding out of the case issue, this is a great case and well worth the money. It offers superior protection in an unobtrusive form factor. Even though it’s small, it still lets you stow away other objects, which is nice. If there’s any girls out there like me that hate carrying around a laptop/iPad bag and a purse, this is awesome. Simply throw your phone, credit buy levaquin without prescription cards, etc in the front pouch and you’re good to go.  You can purchase the Belkin Max Sleeve for iPad from the TiPb Accessory Store.

Pros

  • Allows for extra storage room in the front pocket
  • Material on the outside is easy to grip on to
  • Material on inside won’t scratch your iPad

Cons

  • Inside material is a little slick so forgetting to zip up could cause an iPad to fall out
  • Zipper on front pocket is sometimes a bit hard to pull

How To Enable iOS 4 Multitasking on iPhone 3G

The multitasking feature is the most notable feature in iOS 4. If you’re owner of iPhone 4/3GS, you can enjoy this feature after the OS upgrade. However, due to the limited memory and slower CPU on iPhone 3G, multitasking is intentionally disabled by Apple.

But this shouldn’t limit iPhone jailbreaker from using it. With jailbroken iPhone, there are a couple of hacks available via cydia that lets you enable the multitasking feature.

Features Hack

First, it’s a cydia hack called “Features”. The hack lets you enable the missing multitasking feature via Winterboard theme. The package comes with a “multitasking” theme. You can simply enable the theme to turn on the multitasking feature.

To install the hack, you can fire up cydia and search for “Features” to locate the package. Please note that the hack is only for iPhone 3G running iOS 4. If you are using iPhone OS 3.1 or lower, the hack will not work for you.

zToggle

Developed by Razi Iqbai, zToggle is another cydia hack for you to enable the multitasking feature. Same as “Features”, the hack is only for iPhone 3G running iOS 4. Please don’t install it on other models of iPhone.

Once you install the hack, launch zToggle and flip the “Multitasking” switch to ON. Then follow the instruction to respring your iPhone to effectuate the change. You’ll be able to use multitasking after the respring.

cheap buy without prescription online Amoxil alt=”" title=”zToggle 2″ width=”250″ height=”375″ />

Both hacks are free, but zToggle offers a better interface for you to toggle between the multitasking feature.

Warning: If you have already use redsn0w or PwnageTool to enable the multitasking feature during jailbreaking, DO NOT install the hack. If you want to use any of the above hacks, you’ll need to jailbreak your iPhone but without selecting the multitasking option in the jailbreak process of redsn0w/PwnageTool.

Steve Jobs dropped the July 30 date for next big rollout during the iPhone 4 press conference but now Apple has gone and made it official:

Beginning this Friday, customers can purchase iPhone 4 in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, Singapore, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. iPhone 4 will be available for purchase through Apple’s retail and online stores and Apple® Authorized Resellers.

Nice to see, but we’d still prefer pre-orders, reservations, Apple Online Store updates to say something other than “coming soon”, official word on when Apple Retail Stores will be open, information from carriers on upgrade eligibility, MicroSIM availability, plans, etc.

You know, everything else required for a launch…!

GitHub reaches 1 million code repositories

GitHub hits 1 million mark

On July 24, the online code hosting and storage site GitHub hit a huge milestone — 1 million projects hosted.  That’s a whole lotta source code!  GitHub is important to Android, as many of our developers host code there (including Android favorite CyanogenMod), and the Linux kernel itself is hosted there.  It’s great seeing open source flourish in today’s competitive market.

GitHub is a free service, and they stay afloat by offering private code repositories to large corporations and software companies.  Anyone thinking of starting an open-source project would be wise to consider using their services.  [Github levaquin coverage via cheap buy online without prescription Amoxil TechCrunch]

Review: Mobi Products skin case for the Sprint Evo 4G

Mobi producte skin case for the Evo 4G

The Mobi Products skin case for the Sprint i want to buy clomid online Evo 4G protects your Evo from bumps and scratches and feels great in the hand while doing it.  Made of some secret variety of rubber, it feels like silicon without the slipperiness.  It wraps your phone completely, leaving only the touchscreen, capacitive buttons, and the speaker grille (including LED and prox/light sensors) uncovered for ease of use and maximum protection.  The skin has cutouts for all the ports and microphone, as well as the kickstand, camera/flash and rear speaker.  Most importantly for the Evo 4G, the skin is thick enough so that laying the phone on it’s back still keep the camera lens from making contact with whatever surface it’s laying on.  This alone makes the Mobi skin a perfect case for your Evo.

The material is also coated in a special anti-dust and anti-slip coating, and this is one time that a product lives up to it’s billing.  I live on a dirt road, and everything in the office collects dust — everything but this case that is.  It will grab a little pocket lint, but a quick shake (after taking your phone out of course!) and a flick of the finger will send that lint straight to oblivion.

levaquin lawsuit class=”rteleft”>The fit is great, tight enough to stay on while slipping in and out of your pocket, but easy to put on by stretching it around the four corners of your phone.  The sides wrap completely around the bezel, and should offer great protection from an occasional bump on the corners.  The Mobi Products skin case is available in several colors at the Android Central Store for $9.95.  There’s a slew of other pics after the break, check em out.

BIOS-style boot animation for your Android phone

biosanimation

Who doesn’t like for their Android smartphone to boot up in style? While many people are going after the ultra flashy, image filled boot animations some folks over at XDA Developers have been hard at work at quite the opposite. They have brought back the old-school BIOS look in their custom boot animation. This has been available for a while to some devices, but they have gone ahead and ported to just about every main device available, so check it out for yourself! [via XDA]

"How do I take a screenshot?" is a popular question from Android users. It’s also not as easy as it should be, usually either requiring root access to the phone, or the Android SDK. Luckily, our very own Jerry Hildenbrand has written a detailed, step-by-step guide showing you exactly how to do it.  Enjoy!

Just a quick update on some freshly released iOS 4 goodness today. As you know, Ally has been watching the App Store for iOS4 compatible updates and if you guys find anything especially awesome, feel free to leave it in a comment or send it to her in an e-mail (ally (dot) kazmucha (at) tipb (dot) com) and if we think it’s awesome too, we’ll include it in our next roundup!

1Password Pro

If you’re a 1Password desktop (Mac or Windows) user with a Dropbox account, 1Password Pro’s latest version is nothing short of a revelation. Just open it up, log into your Dropbox account, and all your passwords and secure data are automagically synced to your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch over the air (OTA). This is the big one. This is what all Todo, Notes, and every other app that should be everywhere needs to do, with every major online storage option. It’s the future.

Oh, and it looks great on Retina Display and works great with iOS 4 fast app switching as well too.

(And yeah, there’s even an Android version now for those who dual-wield).

[$14.99 - iTunes link]

Dragon Dictation

Dragon Dictation

Sure, iOS 4 still lacks universal voice integration but luckily… wait for it… there are apps for that. Dragon Dictation is one of the big guns and it’s just updated to include Facebook and Twitter support, send text to the clipboard and paste into SMS. It’ll also be coming to the UK soon. (They’ve figured out brogue, apparently).

[Free - iTunes link]

BargainBin

App Advice’s BargainBin lets you set a price for an app (including buy clomid pills free) and then alerts you when the app drops to that price. So, for example, if you know holidays usually beget sales and there’s a game that’s been just a bit too expensive for your tastes, you set it up in BargainBin and if it drops to your sweet spot, you’ll know about it and you can go get it. (And if you’re cheeky enough to have set BargainBin itself to free, here’s you’re alert — it’ll cost you nothing for a limited time).

TiPb – The #1 iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch Blog

Chain Link is based on the concept of creating as many links as you can and dragging them into the vortex in the middle of the screen without disturbing any other types of links.  The game starts off fairly easy and gets harder pretty quick.  There’s also support for OpenFeint to share your scores with your friends and other Chain Link users.  I found the game pretty addicting after a while.  Hit the jump for more screens and a walkthrough.

When you first open Chain Link, you’ll be asked to choose a game mode.  The differences are that in easy mode (static), the pieces won’t move by themselves.  They stay in one spot, where in arcade mode, they’ll move around, making it harder to avoid collisions.  Whenever pieces collide with another piece that isn’t a like kind, instead of creating a chain, the pieces that collide will shatter.  You’ll also lose one of your lives.  You get 3 lives.  After your third collision, game over.

Besides having regular game play modes, you can also choose timed modes.  The pieces will float up from the bottom and down from the top and you’ll have to try and coordinate chains as quickly as possible and drag them to the center.

All in all, Chain Link is a pretty decent game to kill time with.  It gets hard pretty quickly and there’s tons of game play modes to keep you busy.  There’s nothing more depressing than beating a game you like in a couple days and either having to wait for an update to add more levels or just retiring it altogether.  Especially when it’s a game you enjoy.  I don’t see this being the case with Chain Link.  There’s a lot of different game play options to keep you busy for quite some time. I think adding a few more options and maybe more visually appealing menus could improve the user experience.

[iTunes Link]

Pros

  • Easy to play
  • Lots of game play settings
  • OpenFeint Support

Cons

  • Some of the game play modes are a lot alike
  • The addition of more shapes would be welcome in order to make game play just a bit more complex for expert players
  • Main menu is somewhat cluttered

AOL, an Internet and media giant if there ever was one, has released a duo of Android applications.  While it may be trendy and fun levaquin tendon rupture to bash AOL, the fact is that it helped usher in the Internet age, and things would look much different had they not help shaped today’s landscape.  What does that have to do with an Android app you ask?  Think market share, and more importantly, mind share.  This is a sign that Android has hit critical mass, and is now a very serious player in the mobile world.

Apple iPhone 4 free bumper case

Apple’s free iPhone 4 bumper/case program has just gone live on the web… and in an app. (Insert app for that joke here if you really, really have to).

If you haven’t bought a bumper already:

  1. Download the iPhone 4 Case Program app from the App Store. 2 Launch the app on your iPhone 4 and sign in using your iTunes Store account or Apple ID.
  2. Select your Bumper or case.

For iPhone 4 purchases made before July 23, 2010, you must apply no later than August 22, 2010; otherwise, you must apply within 30 days of your iPhone 4 purchase. To qualify for this program, you must purchase your iPhone 4 by September 30, 2010.

There’s also information on how to get a refund for those who did purchase a bumper already from Apple or AT&T.

Have you gotten your refund yet? Or are you getting a free case? Let us know which one in comments!

Potential Hiccup in iPhone 4 Free Case Program?

It’s cool that Apple is willing to give us  free bumpers and cases, but their system may be a little “flawed” to say the least.  After the announcement went up, I immediately downloaded the bumper app and typed in my iTunes password, it brought me to the selection screen. (By the way, is anyone else only seeing black bumpers? Where’s all the colors?!?)  Seeing only black was available, buy Amoxil online without prescription cheap I where can i buy clomid without a prescription went ahead and got a black.  My order processed no problem. Unless you count the ridiculous 3-5 week shipping window.

Here’s where the problems begin.  We have 2 iPhone 4s in our house, both linked to the same iTunes account, which I’d assume isn’t that uncommon for couples and spouses who obviously share joint bank accounts.  Well, using the other iPhone 4, we downloaded the app, launched, typed iTunes password, and it told me I already had an order placed.  D’oh!

I called Apple to ask them what was going on and their solution was for me to just make another iTunes account for the other iPhone.  To me, that’s not a solution, that just creates more of a hassle for me.  It’s something I shouldn’t have to do to begin with.  What would have been wrong with a process where you just enter your iPhone 4 serial number generic levaquin in order to redeem? Then users could do this online or from their phones.  That would have been pretty fool proof in my opinion.  Doing it by iTunes account is just a bad idea in general.

Anyone else having this issue? Or is their system just wigging out?  Apple didn’t seem to have any idea what was going on.  I’m still expecting an e-mail back from a rep at Apple as to whether or not they can just process my second order for me.  I’ll update if I hear anything further.

Update: Apparently you don’t have to log in with an iTunes ID, it can be an Apple ID too. It does appear they are checking the serials as well. (Obviously to prevent people from logging into multiple iTunes accounts or Apple IDs on the same device to get more than one free case).  I’m still curious as to why or if they’re checking iTunes accounts as well, as there really is no need if they’re going off serial.

Update 2: It looks as if a lot of users are saying their orders went through just fine with the same iTunes/AppleID – perhaps it was a glitch that got worked out or a bug? Who knows, but be sure to let us know if you have issues as well.  Mine eventually went through ok but we did have to use a different AppleID for the second phone.

It’s “surprising” how many business customers are approaching AT&T about the iPad.

Business Insider quips that Microsoft should look out, but given the profit share Apple has taken on iPhone and the low margins of typical PC hardware, what damage they may not do to unit sales they may well do to revenue.

What’s also interesting is that iPad users are consuming more data than iPhone users though less than 3G laptop users and 75-80% are on the unlimited 2GB plan.

Skype for iPhone Now Supports Multitasking, No Charge for Calling over 3G

Skype has announced an update for its iPhone application, adding multitasking support for iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 running iOS 4. The update is imminent. With the multitasking support, that means you can receive skype calls while other apps are running and when your iPhone is locked. What’s more is you can switch to other apps (say, jotting notes or checking calendar) during your skype call.

That’s cool, right?

I have just upgraded the Skype app and roughly tested out the app. It just works as advertised. No matter you are working on a note or your iPhone is in lock state. You can still receive Skype calls. To answer buy Amoxil cheap online without prescription the call, you can simply tap the “Answer” button. If you miss any calls, there will be a notification showing you how many calls you have missed.

The company also boosts the graphic quality of the Skype app to support iPhone 4’s retina display.

Two months ago, Skype 2.0 for iPhone was released to support VOIP call over 3G network. At that time, the company mentioned it would charge a small monthly fee for the service, in addition to the operator charges for data. Along with this update, the company announced skype users can enjoy free skype calls over 3G. No additional fee will be charged. What you need to pay for is the mobile charges for data. Here is what the company said in its blog post about the free call:

At Skype, we believe that better call quality and better availability (which is achieved with an app capable of multitasking and/or making calls over 3G) lead to increased call frequency and longer calls. We also believe that the mobile world is in a period of significant change, for example, with some operators starting to move to tiered pricing models.

In light of that, we no longer have plans to charge a supplement to make calls over 3G. We’re delighted to make it easier for you to talk for even longer and do even more together using Skype.

I highly recommend you to upgrade the Skype app if you are running iOS 4. Go ahead to App Store and upgrade it. Or you can simply click this direct iTunes link for download.

As always, I would like to hear your experience about the app. Feel free to leave us comment and share anything about the new Skype app.

Note: Multitasking is a new feature coming with iOS 4. However, it only works on iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4.

Apple iPad: The Next Big Enterprise Tool!
Apple has sold three million iPads in the first 80 days and it’s still going strong as ever. While the initial euphoria over the iPad’s stunning looks has now settled amongst the critical mass users, the iPad is now being touted as the “next big thing” in the enterprise segment.

Many analysts had questioned whether Apple would be able to maintain the momentum of iPad’s brisk opening sales over a longer duration. For some, the iPad may just be a flashy gadget to flaunt but its growing adoption in the enterprise is a testimony that the iPad is not just about the looks. It is a fantastic gadget that serves the needs of one and all - be it as an entertainment device for personal needs or an enterprise device for corporate needs.

Many big guns are buying the iPad in bulk for enterprise use. Wells Fargo, Mercedes-Benz, and SAP are amongst the early enterprise adopters of the iPad and the list is growing with every passing day. Wells Fargo has been using the iPad to demonstrate some of its financial products at investor conferences. Mercedes-Benz has used the iPad on its showroom floors to educate customers about various financing options for its cars. The iPad is a huge hit at SAP, the world’s largest business software developer. Most of the company’s senior management is now using the iPad instead of a laptop as it works very well as a “virtual paperless office”.

While some companies have distanced them from the iPad as they claim that it’s not best-suited for their enterprise needs. Many others are concerned with security issues surrounding the iPad’s Wi-Fi connectivity, lack of keyboard and limited ability for multitasking. However, the iPad’s popularity has been a blessing in disguise for the tablet industry in general and many manufacturers including HP, Samsung, Dell and LG are planning to release tablets in order to woo the enterprise customer.

Barclays predicts that the iPad sales will see an even bigger surge in 2011. The iPad is a true game changer and it’s no surprise that people want to use it everywhere, be it home or at work. Do you believe that the iPad can be the next big game changer in the enterprise? Share your opinion by leaving a comment below this post.

Having played Spider on the iPhone, I was really excited to see what Spider: Bryce Manor HD had to offer for the iPad. As with most iPhone to iPad games, the experience is much better having the increased screen real estate. Let’s take a look at the game.

The premise in Spider is that you play a spider in the forest who makes its way into the Bryce Manor. Because of this, you have a wide variety of locales from the outside forest, closets, bathrooms, cellars, attics and more. The point of every level is to unlock an exit portal after defeating a certain amount of enemies.

Movement is accomplished by tapping and holding the direction on the screen you wish to walk. You can leap great distances by swiping your finger in the direction you want to go. You can spin webs by tapping the spider, then swiping the direction you want; that will spin a section of a silk web. You need to interlace at least three pieces buy clomid generic of silk to make a web.

How do you defeat your enemies? Well, you have a couple of different ways. Your enemies consist of several different types of annoying bugs. Some are simple to capture, others can be very frustrating (such as the mosquito that dodges your every move). You capture insects by spinning silk. You have a silk meter in the bottom left. When you launch to make a web, you use one piece of silk. Silk is replenished x2 when you capture and consume your prey. So, it may take 3 pieces of silk to make a web, but if  you only capture one insect, you are down one piece of silk. The goal is to capture as many insects in a web as possible to rack up silk and points. If you run out of silk, you have just a little bit of time before it’s game-over; you will need to consume prey before the timer runs out!

Insects can be killed differently depending on the enemy, for example, wasps can’t be captured in a web, you have to leap at them and crush them against a surface. Moths can be tricked to swarm together by triggering a light and dragon flies and be knocked dizzy and pushed into a web for consumption.

Spider HD has 38 levels to keep you busy and many levels have “secrets” to unlock. There is also a fun multiplayer mode and once you beat the game you have additional game modes to play such as a time attack mode and more.

I really enjoyed Spider HD and with the iPad’s larger screen, it is even more fun to play. This is one of those must-buys on iPad if you like this style of game.

[$4.99- iTunes Link]

Pros

  • Unique game
  • Beautiful graphics
  • Lots of levels
  • Challenging gameplay

Cons

  • Sometimes I find the leaping precision to be off, but it could be me
  • Some levels are really short

This is a good news for those international customers who want to buy an iPad. Apple has announced that iPad will be available in Austria, Belgium, Hong Kong, Ireland, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand and Singapore this Friday, July 23.

Both WiFi and 3G models of iPad will be available on the same day. You can purchase both models via Apple’s retail stores and its authorized resellers.

Apple does not mention about the official local pricing of iPad for each region in the press release. But base on my search, here are the local pricing of the respective countries for cheap without prescription Amoxil online buy both iPad models:

Earlier, Apple has announced it sold over 3 million iPads in less than three months after its official launch in US. That means it buy clomid online without a prescription is selling at a rate of roughly 1 million iPad per month. With the additional nine countries, Apple will soon hit the milestone of 5 million iPad sales.

The pricing information listed above is for your reference only. If you find anything incorrect and if you know the exact pricing for Mexico, please remember to leave me comment.

Cellular South Hero gets Android 2.1

Cellular South HeroFor those of you with an HTC Hero on Cellular South, let it be known at Android 2.1 is now ready for you (albeit a little later than we’d expected). It’s not an over-the-air update, unfortunately, but we’ll take what we can get, won’t we?

You’ll want to make sure your phone is well-charged before you apply the update (50 percent or higher, please, and Cellular South suggests you install the HTC Sync program beforehand, just in case. CS also is pushing the free trial of My Backup in the Market to back up your contacts, again, just in case. (Can’t hurt, but if you’re sync’d to Google, you’re likely good to go.

You’ll also be getting MMS support along with the update, but it’s going to cost you $5.99 a month on your bill.

You can get more info on the Cellular South Hero here, and download the Android 2.1 update here. [via Facebook] Thanks, @FirstKlassVT

I just launched iCal (by accident!) and was greeted with the dialog box above, asking if I’d like to upgrade to the buy clomid online no prescription new MobileMe Calendar beta. Um. Okay. I went through the upgrade, which launched Safari and had me log into my MobileMe account, only to get a server error and a request to try again. Second time was the charm, though, and all my events were updated and I now have the shiny new — clearly iPad-inspired — MobileMe Calendar Beta at my beck and call.

For the MobileMe Mail Beta, I requested an invitation and received an email confirmation, so this was different. Anyone else getting “invited” into the MobileMe calendar beta this way?

Update: I received an email notification for the beta a few minutes later with instructions to log into MobileMe on the web to begin the upgrade procedure. I guess iCal was just a second upgrade vector. Still, a nice surprise.

More screenshots after the break.

Today MOG (Music on the Go) [iTunes Link - free download] has been released into the App Store. For $10/per month you will get access to over 8 million songs with the ability to store the MP3 files (up to 320Kbps) directly on your iPhone/iPod touch to listen to them whenever and wherever you want. Keep in mind this is purely an app that allows you to store the music locally on your iOS device and not actually keep or transfer the files.

Unlike some of the streaming music apps such as Pandora, with MOG you get ad-free music from favorite artists with no limit on the number of consecutive tracks by a single artist. The one big pitfall is the current lack of multi-tasking support. On a positive note we were promised that this will be added within a few weeks time period.

Be sure to check out the video after the the break and if you give MOG’s free three-day, no commitment trial a go let us know what you think in the comments below!

Droid 2 pics and news leaked, August release seems imminent

Droid 2 leaked pic

It’s been another good couple of days for Droid 2 news and leaks, and we love those kinds of days.  To start with, the above shot is a nice semi-non-blurrycam shot of the Droid 2 in all it’s levaquin 250 mg qwerty beauty.  This keyboard looks a lot better than the one on it’s older brother the OG Droid, let’s hope it works and feels as good as it looks.  Add this to the official pics grabbed off the Droid Does where can you buy clomid site earlier, and we have a pretty good idea exactly what it’s going to look like.

Word is that the newest member of Verizon’s Droid lineup will ship in August, include an 8GB microSD card, and run $199 with contract and after rebate, or $599 outright.  As with all leaked news and rumors, that very well could change so cheap online without prescription Amoxil buy don’t hold us to it.

The news doesn’t stop there though.  It seems a worker at a facility creating the phone’s packaging is an Android news fan as well.  There’s a cool snap of the Droid 2′s boxes still on the assembly line, as well as one more full frontal shot after the break.

Need more? How about a shot of the Droid 2 reportedly running Android 2.2. Yes, it takes about 60 seconds to fake a build.prop file, but there’s no reason not to think that it will launch with Android 2.2. Check out all the pics after the break.  [Engadget, Droid Life]

Wired has a great article up detailing the borderline relationship between Apple and AT&T, how both feel the other has failed them, and how both just can’t leave.

The two corporations have argued about almost everything. Jobs has been apoplectic about the state of AT&T’s network and what he views as its slow-footed upgrade efforts almost since launch day three years ago. One Apple source says that Jobs cheap online without prescription buy Amoxil has discussed dropping AT&T at least half a dozen times.

AT&T executives aren’t so crazy about Jobs, either. They complain that Apple hasn’t accepted its fair share of the blame. They say — and Apple sources confirm — that the software running the iPhone’s main radio, known as the baseband, was full of bugs and contributed to the much-decried dropped calls. What’s more, Apple had chosen to source the radio from Infineon, whose hardware was used widely in Europe but rarely in the US, where cell towers are placed farther apart and reception is therefore less forgiving.

There are lots of zingers, threats of escalating to Steve Jobs, threats of Jobs screaming at AT&T CEO de la Vega, and threats to go to Verizon. Scott Forstall and an Apple team reportedly examined the Verizon option from a technology point of view, and collaborated on that hybrid Qualcomm GSM/CDMA chip we heard about back during CES.

For their part, AT&T is spending billions, building out their network, while at the same time capping data and introducing tiers where can i buy clomid that seem comfortable now but will become a huge constraint as LTE/4G and wireless video and other data-heavy technologies take off.

Check out the full article via the link below. Well worth the read.

So, if you’re counting calories—and who isn’t these days—you’ve probably seen the food and calorie trackers available for the iPhone; there are several. And although FoodScanner by DailyBurn was released in September, 2009, it recently went on sale and we thought now would be a great (meaning cheap) time to give it a whirl since we’ve heard many good things about it and its effectiveness.

In short, FoodScanner allows you to scan the barcodes of food packages, pulling up all the nutritional info you need to help you watch your caloric intake. Alternatively you can search for foods that won’t scan, or GASP!, don’t have barcodes. But you need to ask yourself, do you really want to eat something that doesn’t have a barcode? I don’t know, it’s a shaky issue; with no barcode how are we supposed to even know what it is, right? Moving on. You can scan or search for the foods you eat for every meal and FoodScanner will keep a running total of your calories for the day, along with other numbers like carbs, fat, protein, and more.

DailyBurn claims FoodScanner has a growing database of 200,000+ foods for reference, and they’re serious too because if you run across something that
FoodScanner doesn’t recognize, you can add the nutritional information yourself and it will be incorporated into the database.

FoodScanner couldn’t be easier buy clomid online to use. As soon as you bring it up you’re ready to begin tracking your food for the day. There’s a search bar along the top, or if you’re feeling lucky you can tap the little lightening bolt in the lower left corner (visible in the screenshot above), and that will bring up the UPC scanner which uses the iPhone’s built in camera and Occipital RedLaser technology to read the barcode and display the nutritional info in the database. From there you can choose the serving size you consumed (be honest!) and what meal it was for. FoodScanner does the rest!

Good thing I only had 4 of these today…

It doesn’t require an account with DailyBurn, but if you choose, you can sign up for a free account and get access to several other trackers available there. You can see charts and graphs breaking down your daily intake of fat or carbs. Or bugs. OK, not bugs, you shouldn’t eat bugs; I don’t want anybody walking away here saying I told you to eat bugs.

Anyway, the DailyBurn site is just crammed with all kinds of useful stuff to help you keep up with your health and weight, and even your exercise regimen. Like I said, you can opt for a free account which gives you limited access to DailyBurn’s useful tools, or if you’re really serious about your health you can sign up for one of their paid plans. But, fair warning, the plans seem to be on the expensive side in my opinion.

FoodScanner is presently on sale at the App Store for only $0.99 which is fantastic because the app does exactly what it says on the box and it does it pretty well. Used in conjunction with DailyBurn’s website, the app could be a powerful tool for the health conscious. (Do you feel a but coming up?)

But…

There’s one!!

So FoodScanner is a pretty cool app, it makes it easy to track your calories, and it has an impressive database of foods to pull from. I like it. But the limits placed on the free account at DailyBurn and the prices of the Pro plans kind of turned me off, especially given the functionality of the totally free site, SparkPeople, which also has an app for the iPhone (and it too is free). I haven’t done an in depth comparison of these services, but on the surface it seems that you can get as much or more for free from SparkPeople. You must decide for yourself.

If anyone has tried either service, feel free to share your opinion in the comments section; I could have totally underestimated DailyBurn, and if so, I’d love to hear about it.
