iPads seem to be cropping up in a few Walmart stores a little ahead of schedule. Target and Amazon recently started carrying iPads and it wasn’t long before we started hearing Walmart iPad rumors. It became official when Walmart announced an iPad event. With all these new retailers carrying new iDevices, it seems Apple is ramping themselves up to take advantage of holiday sales. I live in an area where the closest Apple store is over an hour away, so being able to stop into one of our local stores is always a welcome option. Now that we have not only Apple – but Best Buy, Target, Amazon, and Walmart selling iPads, they should be a lot more accessible to many more people.

Walmart employees seem to have gotten overly excited and placed a few iPads on shelves ahead of the official launch. The pic above was sent to TUAW from one of their readers. Anyone else seeing iPads crop up at their local Walmart a little ahead of schedule? If you see some, send your pics our way!

You Americans may not have a clue what Lovefilm means to Britons, but in short, it’s Netflix for the other side of the pond. To that end, we imagine quite a few UKers are giddy over a video that has since been pulled from Sony’s YouTube channel. We’ve embedded it after the break in case it revives itself in some magical, mystical fashion, but Everything PlayStation managed to grab the copy from underneath while it was still alive. It’s bruited that Lovefilm buy Amoxil without prescription cheap online streaming will be coming to UK-based PS3 owners sometime this autumn, with a wealth of search options available and free trials promised where to buy clomid without prescription for those who’ve yet to buy into the outfit’s services. Limera1n Released to Jailbreak iOS 4.1 for iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4

can i buy clomid over the counter wp-image-9153″ />What a surprise! As we were expecting the release of Greenpois0n levaquin medicine on October 10, it turns out that GeoHot, the developer of blackra1n, amazed everyone with the debut of Limera1n.

As mentioned in its official website and iPhone Dev team’s blog, Limera1n is a bootrom-level jailbreak that works on the iPhone 3GS, iPhone4, iPod touch 3G, iPod touch 4G, the iPad, and (technically) the AppleTV 2G. However, Limera1n does not rely on the SHAtter exploit. In fact, it uses a different bootrom-based exploit that allows the jailbreak on more devices.

What You Need to Know about Limera1n

For now, the Limera1n is a beta release. That means it’s not stable and with some known bugs. For those who are adventurous, I know you can’t wait for the final version. But before you download Limera1n and jailbreak your device, here are what you need to know about the jailbreak tool:

  • Limera1n is not an unlock buy Amoxil cheap without prescription online tool. It’s just for jailbreaking only. If you rely on ultrasn0w to unlock your iPhone, please DO NOT upgrade to iOS 4.1. The iPhone Dev team will soon update the PwnageTool jailbreak tool that will be able to let you upgrade to 4.1 and preserve the baseband.
  • Limera1n works on iPhone 3GS, iPhone4, iPod touch 3G and iPod touch 4G running on iOS 4.1. It also works on the iPad running on iOS 3.2.2. For iPhone 3G, please use redsn0w to jailbreak.
  • It’s an untethered jailbreak. Thanks to @comex, who provides the untethered aspect of limera1n.
  • As of now, Limera1n is available for Windows users only. GeoHot will release the Mac version later.
  • It does not support beta version of iOS.
  • If cydia doesn’t appear after running Limera1n, please reboot your iPhone. It’s a known bug.

If you’re adventurous, go ahead to limera1n.com to download the jailbreak tool.

By the way, what about Greenpois0n?

With the sudden release of limera1n, Greenposi0n will no longer be released. Here is the explanation from iPhone Dev team:

The release of limera1n has (hopefully!) averted the burning of 2 bootrom holes at once (both his and SHAtter). Releasing SHAtter now would be a complete waste of a perfectly good bootrom hole in light of limera1n, and so it can be held until Apple closes limera1n’s hole. While there’s no guarantee that Apple won’t also close SHAtter by then, it provides a ray of hope for devices after Apple’s bootrom respin. Meanwhile, look for an alternate implementation of the limera1n exploit in greenpois0n (and possibly other tools), where it should undergo more testing too.

Stay tuned. I’ll soon publish the jailbreak guide for Limera1n.

The Dev Team has commented on Geohot’s multiple iOS device jailbreak, limera1n, released yesterday. A bootrom-level Jailbreak for iPhone 3GS (2009/2010), iPhone 4 (2010), iPod touch 3 (2009), iPod touch 4 (2010), iPad (2010), and theoretically Apple TV (2010). which was released yesterday and it’s fair to say it hit the community like a small yield nuclear blast:

Limera1n uses a different exploit than SHAtter, and in fact covers more devices. Although some may question geohot’s dramatic and competitive style, he obviously does have considerable skill pulling this together in just over a day (although he’s cheap without prescription Amoxil online buy had the underlying exploit for months). Credit also goes to @comex, who provides the untethered aspect of limera1n via another one of his growing list of kernel hacks.

While exploits are how Jailbreak payloads are delivered, they’re also security risks that enable any other type of payload delivery buy clomid online without a prescription — including malware if bad guys decide to go after iOS. That means Apple has to patch them either in new firmware or in hardware revision that fix more base-level exploits.

The Dev Team also points out limera1n doesn’t appear to be well tested or polished yet, but that Geohot has a history of iterating and improving his releases quickly.

Check out our Jailbreak Forum for help and more information on limera1n and other Jailbreaks. And let us know, do you like this newly competitive, somewhat dramatic Jailbreak landscape or would you rather the various individuals and teams coordinate things better?

Texas Instruments recently rocked the graphing calculator world by adding a touchpad to its TI-Nspire calculator, and Casio has now come back with a technological revolution of its own: a high-res color screen. Modders cry shenanigans, say T-Mobile G2 ‘backup’ is a sham

The big guns in the Android development/mod community (these guys are more than mere hackers) have had a week to look at the T-Mobile G2, and study the levaquin tendonitis href=”http://www.androidcentral.com/t-mobile-g2-root-rootkit-hacking”>is-it-a-rootkit-or-not mess — and one of Android’s most respected and beloved developers has spoken.  The problem with getting (and keeping) the G2 rooted correctly is because of a bug.  According to Cyanogen (aka Steve Kondik), there is no fail-safe to reload the system, there never was such a fail-safe, and in his own colorful way claims we were lied to all along.  He lays it all out in technical terms right here, but I’ll try to break it down a bit.

The controller that writes files to the "disk" really isn’t writing anything to the disk, but reports that is has done so.  The NAND (that’s what I’m calling cheap online Amoxil buy without prescription a disk here) is locked the same way as every other HTC phone is, and no new system to protect the end user is in place.  This is the exact opposite of what T-Mobile has told us.  Whom to believe?  Well I think you all know my answer to that one.  [via @Cyanogen]

A bootrom-level Jailbreak for iPhone 3GS (2009/2010), iPhone 4 (2010), iPod touch 3 (2009), iPod touch 4 (2010), iPad (2010), and theoretically levaquin prescription Apple TV (2010). which was released yesterday and it’s fair to say it hit the community like a small yield nuclear blast:

Limera1n uses a different exploit than SHAtter, and in fact covers more devices. Although some may question geohot’s dramatic and competitive style, he obviously does have considerable skill pulling this together in just over a day (although he’s had the underlying exploit for months). Credit also goes to @comex, who provides the untethered aspect of limera1n via another one of his growing list of kernel hacks.

While exploits are how Jailbreak payloads are delivered, they’re also security risks that enable any other type of payload delivery — including malware if bad guys decide to go after iOS.

Filed under: Audio I don’t pay too much attention to Apple’s App Store cheap Amoxil without prescription online buy antics. I don’t know the ins and outs of why they choose to approve App A and not App B. However, I do know that I’m a little surprised to see apps like Mog, Slacker, Rhapsody, and Spotify making their way onto the App Store.

Why? Because it just seems odd that they’d want to allow those apps (which allow users to store tracks offline) to wrestle away precious buy clomid online dollars that they’d no doubt prefer to see spent on iTunes downloads.

I’m further confused by Greg Sandoval’s report on CNet that Apple is poisoning the well in the U.S., doing its best to convince record labels that Spotify’s arrival on American soil would further undermine download sales. Spotify, of course, has already missed two launch deadlines in the U.S., and things aren’t looking good for the latest date of December 31st.

With Apple voicing its concern to labels — and those same labels already disenchanted with similar services — it could be a very steep uphill climb for Spotify.

That raises the question: If Apple is really helping to steer the record industry away from apps like Spotify, how much longer will we see them on the App Store? Until Apple releases their own streaming service? Is Apple undermining Spotify’s U.S. launch? originally appeared on Download Squad on Fri, 08 Oct 2010 10:00:00 EST. After some initial waffling on the subject, Microsoft has pretty steadfastly denied that any older Windows Mobile devices would be able to run Windows Phone 7 — even the seemingly capable HTC HD2. Glassgate: Is Your iPhone 4 Glass Back Being Broken By Third Party Cases?
Barely a couple of months after the media went bezerk over the iPhone 4 Antennagate (aka Death Grip) problems, Apple finds itself amidst a new Glassgate controversy. Barely a couple of months after the media went bezerk over the iPhone 4 Antennagate (aka Death Grip) problems, Apple finds itself amidst a new Glassgate controversy. Ryan Block, the Co-Founder of gdgt and the former Editor-In-Chief of Engadget claims that Apple’s engineering team is already in a “preemptive damage control mode” on an issue related to non-bumper styles cases which are scratching the back of the device when slid on and off. While scratches on cellphones are common, the worrying part about this report is the allegation that these cases can lead to “shattered” and “cracked” glasses on your iPhone 4.

If these claims are indeed true, it would be a major setback for Apple as it has always maintained that the iPhone 4 is made up of aluminosilicate glass, which is “20 times stiffer and 30 times harder than plastic” and “comparable in strength to sapphire crystal.” Ryan Block quotes his “sources both inside and outside Apple” who’ve confirmed that Apple is said to be investigating the issue further, i want to buy clomid online and doing anything possible to try to come up with a solution. The report also claims that Apple has swiftly moved to block sales of nearly all third-party iPhone 4 cases from its stores.

IMO, Apple handled the Antennagate controversy pretty well and providing free bumper cases was an amicable solution acceptable to majority of iPhone 4 owners.

In this case, the problem is due to the gap in these non-bumper cases, which allow dust particles to seep between the case and iPhone 4’s back panel. If these particles continue to stay there then they lead to scratches as well as cracks. Well, that’s the theory put across by Mr. Ryan Block. To be honest, I don’t even use a case for my iPhone 4 and it’s still in perfect condition. So, I fail to understand the hue and cry around this issue. Perhaps, it’s another negative publicity stunt by the iPhone critics or competitors.

There’s no doubt generic levaquin that as great cheap buy online Amoxil without prescription and beautiful as the iPhone 4 might be, it has some minor flaws. After all, nothing in this world is perfect. However, I don’t really understand the undue fuss about the cracking and shattering, especially when there is no concrete evidence to such allegations.

There’s no question about it: Sony had its work cut out when it came time to improve the next generation of its e-readers. Amazon’s Kindle isn’t only the best selling electronic reading device out there, but its new $139 WiFi version is the fastest-selling yet. And then there’s the Barnes & Noble’s Nook, which is an equally capable competitor, especially with recent firmware updates. Oh, and don’t forget about the $140 Kobo. Yep, Sony had some serious work to do and its cheapest option – the $179.99 Pocket Edition — does differentiate in some striking ways. iPhone 4 Scratched

Since Ryan Block, formerly editor-in-chief of Engadget and current co-founder of GDGT, reported Apple was in a secret lock-down over slide-on cases and particulate causing iPhone 4 glass backplates to scratch and break, there’s been a lot of debate as to the merit and credibility of the charges.

The Macalope takes particular issue with it in Macworld:

This piece is a hopeless mess of unsourced accusations blended with inflammatory rhetoric and vomited onto the Internet like an Apple rumor ipecac.

Marc Flores of Intomobile points out that, while anything is possible, can you buy clomid online it certainly doesn’t seem widespread like Antennagate:

The reason that the GDGT article is shocking isn’t because it’s another potential scandal, but that it’s the first any of us has heard of the issue. Why is that? The iPhone 4 has been on the market for four months now and several folks have been using slider cases on it since day one. Where is the angry mob?

Our own editor-in-chief, Dieter Bohn, did get a scratch on his iPhone 4 back the day it came out, but that was as a result — he thinks — of particulate on a table. And he wasn’t using a slider case but Apple’s own bumper.

Like I said before though, no one else at TiPb has had a problem and we used all sorts of cases all the time.

Still, Block’s reputation and credibility in the industry makes the story impossible to ignore, so we’ll be following it to see what, if anything, happens next.

So it’s not surprise Jim Dalrymple of the Loop confirms the oft-rumored 7-inch iPad has been around since the get go:

The fact is, Apple already has a 7-inch iPad. They have had one of the smaller devices since they started making the 9.7-inch iPad that we have now.

To be clearer, the two devices were developed at the same time. They have pretty much the same specs, except, of course, the 9.7-inch model has a higher density screen than its smaller counterpart.

Whether Apple will ever release it or not is another question. They did introduce an iPod mini (now iPod nano) to their music player line but have thus far not introduced any new iPhone sizes. I’m betting iPad will be more like iPhone: a product and not a line of products.

Given all the Verizon iPhone rumors of late, and given our fears Verizon would try to mutilate iOS the way it’s mutilated Android, it’s rather shocking to hear Android founder Andy Rubin say the following to PCMag’s Sascha Segan:

If I were to release an operating system that I claimed was open and that forced everybody to make [phones] all look the same and all support very narrow features and functionality, the platform wouldn’t win. It wouldn’t win because the OEMs have a lot of value to bring and the carriers have a lot of value to bring, and they need a vehicle by which to put their interesting differentiating buy online cheap Amoxil without prescription features on these things. Every phone shouldn’t look like every other phone. If that was the case there would just be one SKU, right? The whole idea here is just to figure out what consumers want, build phones and tailor them to what consumers want.

Which must be locked down search engines, aGPS, bloatware, and the various other sins Verizon, AT&T, et. al have visited on other platforms, including Android, right?

No thanks.

He also thinks Microsoft shouldn’t have bother innovating Windows Phone 7 and just used Android. He thinks everyone should just use Android and no one should bother innovating anymore. By that logic, he shouldn’t have bothered founding and innovating Android either and just waited around for Symbian Foundation to give him a build of their old OS. Sigh.

Unfortunately, it looks like he’s already getting his wish and those of us who were looking forward to a few more innovative takes on a smartphone OS might just be disappointed.

Apple has sent out a reminder to MobileMe members who subscribed back in the old .Mac days and used HomePage to publish content to the web.

The short version is, after November 8 you’ll no longer be able to view those pages though the content will remain in your iDisk and can be reused in things like MobileMe Gallery, or republished via the iWeb app. (Or who knows, maybe something even more interesting when/if iLife ‘11 is announced).

For the long version, follow after the break.

And we can’t help but ask — was anyone still using HomePage anyway?

Dear MobileMe member,

Over a year ago, we retired the .Mac HomePage application for publishing new pages, but allowed previously published pages to remain viewable on the web. On November 8, 2010, we will discontinue online viewing of photos, movies, and files shared using .Mac HomePage.

Please note that your content will not be deleted. Any photos, movies, or files you have published using HomePage will continue to remain on your MobileMe iDisk in the Movies, Pictures, or Public folders. We recommend MobileMe Gallery as a great way to share photos and movies on the web. Please read these instructions on how to move your HomePage photos and movies to MobileMe Gallery.

MobileMe members who have published web pages using iWeb will not be affected by this change. If you have used other software to publish web content to MobileMe or .Mac, or have questions about this change, please read this FAQ.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you for being a MobileMe member.

Sincerely,

The MobileMe Team

The terms and conditions for Amazon’s upcoming Android store have been leaked to SlashGear, and boy do they look grim. Amazon reserves a lot of rights, including the ability to set the price at which you sell your apps!

Two days ago, the Amazon Android store was just a rumor, but these T&Cs would suggest that the store is real — and that it’s coming soon. Most of the terms are understandably draconian — Amazon’s just covering its ass — but some are really quite neat. If you ‘buy’ a free app, for example, you then retain the rights in perpetuity. If you delete it from your phone, and the developer increases the price, you can still grab another copy for free from Amazon.

There’s also some ‘price matching’ type stuff, where you must not sell your app for less on a ‘Similar Service’ (a term that covers any service that distributes apps online!). Developers must also keep their apps up-to-date on the Amazon store.

All in all, the Amazon Android store sounds like it will be great for the consumer, but hard work for the developer. Still, when you’re as large levaquin abdominal pain and as important as Amazon, you get to make the rules.Draconian terms and conditions reveal Amazon’s plans for Android app store originally appeared on Download Squad on Thu, 30 Sep 2010 06:20:00 EST. buy Amoxil online without prescription cheap Please see our terms for use of feeds.Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Froyo on the Dell Streak

Froyo on the Dell Streak

That’s not any sort of optical illusion — Android developer DJ_Steve has ported Froyo to the Dell Streak, and has made the files available for download.  Be warned, this is no easy process, and there are some known issues, but it appears that most of the early adopters are having a successful (and fun) time with Android 2.2 on that big 5 inch screen.  It’s pure vanilla for the time being, but Steve is the head developer for the Streak port of CyanogenMod, so that’s on the horizon.  Hit the source for the download link and instructions, and there’s a video after the break.  [Modaco via StreakSmart] Thanks @SooGoh!

An Android device is a sensitive thing; it’s hooked up to your Google account, and there are tons of apps out there. While Android does let you know what an app will be able to access (“SD Card” etc.), it has no built-in mechanism for telling the genuinely useful applications from the ones that are out to get you.
Lookout Mobile Security is one possible solution. It’s an anti-virus application that monitors all other software applicatons and scans them. It can also scan your Android device on a daily or weekly basis, and just like any other self-respecting anti-virus, it automatically updates itself online.
The anti-virus isn’t the coolest thing about Lookout Mobile Security, though: It has a Find My Phone feature that can show you your Android device on a map, using the device’s own GPS, without requiring any confirmation on the device itself. I’m not sure how useful that is for actually retrieving a lost device, but it’s still nice to know the general vicinity of its whereabouts.
If you just happen to misplace your device somewhere in your apartment, you can also use Find My Phone to activate a “siren” from the Web – the device starts emitting an obnoxiously loud noise, buy Amoxil cheap without prescription online which you’re bound to hear if it’s anywhere around.
Last but not least, can i buy clomid over the counter Lookout Mobile Security also features a data backup solution. As a novice Android user, I’m not quite sure what that’s good for – I think most of my data is backed up on my linked Google account anyway. It does allow you to automatically back up photos, which is handy indeed.Lookout Mobile Security is a great free antivirus for Android originally appeared on Download Squad on Fri, 01 Oct 2010 16:15:00 EST. As with Intel Macs and CDMA iPhones, I always assume Apple tried out every logical variation of a product in the labs, and has every sensible alternative prototyped and tested as a release candidate before ultimately deciding the best device with which to go to market.

Okay, now that it seems to be established that the iPhone is coming to Verizon next year, the next question is: just how many people will make the jump from AT&T to the new network? Legion of Doom

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer snuck into Adobe to talk with their CEO, Shantanu Narayen, about how they could team up, cartoon villain-style, to take on the growing mobile power of Apple and one Steven P. Jobs. the NYT Bits blog says:

The meeting, which lasted more than an hour, covered a number of topics, but one of the main thrusts of the discussion was Apple and its control of the mobile phone market and how the two companies could team up in the battle against Apple. A possible acquisition of Adobe by Microsoft were among the options.

One person familiar with the discussion said the two companies had talked about the blockade that Apple’s chief executive, Steven P. Jobs, had placed on Adobe’s Flash software for its hand-held devices and whether a partnership by Adobe and Microsoft could fend off Apple, which continues to grow at juggernaut speeds.

At first, I thought that Dragontape had something to do with dragons, but sadly, it doesn’t. It’s more along the lines of “drag on tape,” which means that you get a long, long timeline (or “tape”) and you drag YouTube videos onto it.
The goal is to create a playlist, such as this staff pick playlist featuring street music. A playlist can be up to three hours long, which is a tad extreme if you ask me, but I guess some people could use the room for self-expression.
This write-up cannot possibly do Dragontape justice, because the interface has to be seen. Through the magic of advanced JavaScript, the timeline interface floats over the currently playing video with a low-fi scan line effect, and it looks very slick.
This beautiful presentation made me curious enough to rummage through the sources (mainly because I wanted to see if it was all Flash), and I discovered that they use Yahoo’s YUI JavaScript Library. This has to be one of the most creative implementations I’ve seen yet, and it’s well worth checking out if you like music videos (or just music).

A picture circulating the internet, while not a glimpse at iPad 2 future, turns out to be a glimpse of current iPad past — an idea Apple might have turned away from at literally the last minute according to Engadget’s Joshua Topolsky:

According to a trusted Engadget source, what the image actually shows is a rejected concept from the current generation iPad. The story goes that originally there had been plans to feature two dock connections, but close to the last minute a design decision was made to kill the landscape port.

Given how much Apple dislikes ports or buttons or anything that interferes with their clean, crisp lines, I’m not surprised it went and doubt anything so “ambidockular” will return, but would you have wanted it?

Firefox added built-in checking for outdated plug-ins a while back, and it was announced back in June that Google Chrome would soon add the feature. After all, surfing with older, unpatched versions of Flash, Java, or QuickTime poses a security risk, and browser security is a vital part of Chrome’s core.

Following the update to 7.0.542.0 in Chrome’s bleeding-edge Canary build, Windows users can now turn on outdated plug-in checking. To flip the switch, jump to the about:labs page and click the enable link. Unlike some other experimental features, the plug-in check doesn’t require a restart.

Right now, the check is only available in Canary — but this is the kind of feature Google tends to push to Chrome’s other channels in short order. By now you may have seen some photos of an alleged iPad casing doing the rounds that is purported to be the next generation of Apple’s tablet. In the pics, you can clearly see that there are two distinct slots for the company’s 30 pin dock connector, which would allow you to plant the iPad in either landscape or portrait mode. Unfortunately, this isn’t a sign of things to come — it’s a future that never was. According to a trusted Engadget source, what the image actually shows is a rejected concept from the current generation iPad. The story goes that originally there had been plans to feature two dock connections, but close to the last minute a design decision was made to kill the landscape buy clomid without prescription levaquin side effect port.

It’s still possible that Apple has decided to go back to the two-port design, but in all likelihood this is a piece of a prototype which has found its way into the world. If the story we’ve been told is correct, then there would likely cheap online buy Amoxil without prescription be dozens if not hundreds of these back pieces floating around China. From what we can suss out, this is not the direction Apple is going in for the next version, but hey, if come January we see a new iPad with two dock connectors — drinks are on us.Debunk: Leaked iPad photo doesn’t show next gen design originally appeared on Engadget on Thu, 07 Oct 2010 17:28:00 EDT. If you had any doubts that the 3D bandwagon was taking no prisoners in an attempt to fill up and overflow, look no further than Lenovo’s 3D IdeaPad Y560d. Yeah, a 3D laptop from Lenovo. The folks over at Hot Hardware were able to spend a bit of quality time with this beast, but unlike many of Lenovo’s machines, this one wasn’t exactly an easy sell. In fact, they firmly stated that it’s only a surefire recommendation to those who will be utilizing the 3D panel with great frequency, noting that the decision to toss a power-hungry Core i7 into an otherwise portable machine led to subpar battery life that would frustrate frequent travelers. Gaming performance was found to be satisfactory, though, and while the overall performance seemed fine, the 7200RPM hard drive in their test unit is apparently unavailable in the shipping unit (which holds a 5400RPM drive). At any rate, they did state that other units in the Y560 line would be better options for more well-rounded consumers, so unless you plan on living with a set of 3D glasses on, you’re probably better off passing over this one. Google Goggles Finally Comes to iPhone and It’s Awesome!

cheap Amoxil online without prescription buy size-full wp-image-9107″ />After a long wait, Google Goggles is now finally here for iPhone. The visual search app has been released to Android phones since last December. On Tuesday, Google announced the visual search feature is now bundled with the Google Mobile app on iPhone and it’s now available on App Store for free download.

Back in February, I have written up a levaquin 500 post about Google Goggles. It’s a revolutionary product that transforms the way you do search. While you normally use text or keyword to search for stuffs, Google Goggles lets you search by using taking pictures. Simply spot on the object you want to search, point the iPhone’s camera and shoot. Goggles will then analyze the photo and highlight the objects it recognizes. Just click on the results to search for more.

While Google Goggles is available as a standalone app on Android, it comes to iPhone as a feature within the Google Mobile app. To use the visual search feature, simply tap on the camera button in the app. Take a picture for the object you want to search.

I just downloaded the app and test it out. It works pretty well. I tried to the app to search for a book and my Apple wireless keyboard. Google Goggles recognizes both items correctly. It’s awesome!

That said, as mentioned by Google, Goggles is still a lab product. It’s not perfect and still need lots of refinements. For now, it works well for things such as landmarks, logos and the covers of books, DVDs and games. But it may not work well for things like animals, plants or food.

If you want to learn more about Google Goggles and see how it works, check out the official demo video. But the best way to experience the app is to try it out on your iPhone. Go ahead to download Google Mobile app and search the world around you with Goggles!

Note: Since Google Goggles requires an auto-focusing camera, it is supported only on iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 running iOS 4 or above.

Air Hockey is one of the most popular game type among iPhone and iPod touch users. If you are into iPhone games you might have already tried Air Hockey by Acceleroto or Touch Hockey by FlipSide5. In fact, we had reviewed the latter earlier on our blog. This time we tried Intulo’s 1on1 Action Hockey HD and we are really impressed.

The most appealing feature about this game was the enhanced physics simulation. I tried it in the multiplayer mode on my iPhone 4 and was really addicted for quite some time. For an even better side effects levaquin experience try the iPad version. Lucky for you we are giving away two copies of the application. One for the iPhone and another for the iPad.

Given the large number of Air Hockey apps present on the App Store already, almost everyone is familiar with the nitty gritty of it. Let’s look at the important features of 1on1 Action Hockey.

Noteworthy Game Features:

  • Background Rock Music
  • Gameplay power-ups
  • Two ways of scoring – Send puck into goal or turn all stars to your colour
  • Enhanced Physics Simulation

We have played several other iPhone games of this variety and found the most realistic experience on this game. It has great music, power ups to add that element of surprise and multiplayer mode to play against a friend. You can configure set points at 7, 15 or 21. If you make a goal you gain one point and if you lit the stars you get 3 points. The four power ups that you will come across while playing are as follows:

  1. Speed Up – the name gives it away
  2. Shrink – Your opponent’s striker becomes smaller
  3. Defense Wall – The Goal is closed for a small duration of time giving you extra defense
  4. Wacky Puck – the puck moves wackily for a while

Once again, the graphics are really nice and contribute to an interesting gameplay experience. Now let’s look at the cons. For now, we only found one. 1on1 Action Hockey lacked multiplayer over Wifi, which was present in Touch Hockey. We hope that the developers will include this in the upcoming versions of their game.

The game is priced at $0.99 and available for your iPhone/iPod Touch as well as the iPad.

App Demo on Video

Our Verdict

We recommend this app to not just every Air Hockey fan but any casual iPhone gamer. It’s a must have game and has a lot of finesse attached to the gameplay.

How to Participate in Giveaway?

We are giving away two promotional codes for 1on1 Action Hockey. One for the iPhone/iPod Touch and another for the iPad. To participate in the Giveaway, you can either:

  1. Join our Facebook Page and click the “Like” button of this article
  2. Follow our blog on Twitter and retweet this article
  3. Leave us comment below and let us know why you love the app.

No matter which method you choose, don’t forget to mention which device you want the app for – iPhone or iPad. We will choose two winners randomly and the contest gets over on 7th October, 2010. The winners will be announced right here and also informed via email, Facebook or Twitter (depending on the way you join the Giveaway). Good luck to everyone!

It’s no secret that Microsoft has a slight tablet, err Slate PC problem Buy clomid online Without Prescription on its hands: Windows 7 certainly works on a “pad,” but the user interface isn’t meant for strictly finger input. The makeshift solution has been, of course, for its partners to create software skins of their own — see HP TouchSmart UI, the ExoPC “Connect Four” skin, etc. — but according to Microsoft know-it-all Mary Jo Foley of ZDNet, the guys in Redmond may just be working on a layer of their own. Now, Foley says these are just recurring rumors at this point, but they happen to line up with similar whispers we’ve heard that Microsoft might develop its own optional “shell.” Foley actually believes that it could be based on Windows Media Center, levaquin tendon rupture and points to an article by UK blogger Mark Wilson in which Ballmer is quoted saying, “what you’ll see over the course of the next year is us doing more and more work with our hardware partners creating hardware-software optimisations with Windows 7 and with Windows 7 Media Center [...].” We don’t need to tell you, Mr. Ballmer, that we think that sounds like a glorious idea, and it’ll certainly buy you time until Windows 8 is ready in 2012.

Speaking of which, he also confirmed that it won’t be releasing another version of Windows in the interim as some may have suspected. cheap buy without prescription Amoxil online We’ve similarly heard that Microsoft is heavily optimizing the new OS for slates, and is already prepping its partners with information on that front. Obviously all of this should be taken with a grain of salt at this point, but we sure are happy to hear that Microsoft’s starting to understand how important those UI layers are to consumer adoption and that the wheels may be in motion on finger-friendly interface improvements. Of course, for now we’ll be sitting here twiddling our thumbs until next week’s October 11 event to see if any elusive Microsoft slate announcements do in fact decide to make an appearance.Microsoft creating its own software layer for Windows 7 tablets? Filed under: Internet, Browsers

In recent months you may have noticed a surge of posts by popular, authoritative tech sites on the topic of Web browser market shares. They all Buy cheap clomid online Without Prescription take roughly the same format: a bold title about how one browser is losing ground, a graph with almost-straight lines that neither educates or enlightens, and to finish, an impossibly ludicrous prediction about what we can expect next month. This is not news.

In the last two years, there has only been one new browser: Google Chrome. Ready for the mindblowing bit? It is gaining market share! Hold on while I steady my shaking hands. I know what you’re thinking: a new piece of software, created by one of the biggest and most important companies in the world — why is it gaining market share?! WHAT IS THIS MADNESS?

In the last two years, there is only one definitive trend: Internet Explorer is losing market share and Chrome is gaining it. No combination of pretty pie charts or line graphs can support any other conclusion.

And therein lies the problem: every single source of Web browser statistics, and thus every graph, is different. In true tabloid, Fox Newsesque fashion, just pick a data set that suits your editorial style and roll with it — who cares if it’s news, who cares if it’s accurate.

Fortunately, for those of us that still retain the most basic levels of critical analysis and cognitive sentience, this is the Internet! A wealth of information on the true state of the browser war — and freedom from the dominion of hyperbolic, viral blogs — is just a few clicks away.

We should begin, as always with Internet research, with the excellent Wiki resource on the Usage share of Web browsers. Not only does the Wiki page have up-to-the-month figures from every major Web analytics company, but you can also see comparative, side-by-side statistics.

According to W3Counter, Firefox has had a static (31%) market share for almost two and a half years. StatCounter and OneStat seem to agree, while others such as Net Applications and Stat Owl put Firefox’s share nearer 20%.

Did you know that Firefox (13.5%) had a larger percentage market share after its first two years than Chrome (7.5%)? Even better, if you go back to when Internet Explorer first waged war against Netscape Navigator, it gained almost 40% of the market in just two years!

But other than very long, steady trends, I’m finding it hard to draw any conclusions because the data sets vary by such an incredible extent. The data, I am certain, comes from different parts levaquin side effects of the Internet, and also from different parts of the world. Look at StatCounter Europe — almost 40% use Firefox! I wonder what the browser share is like in Asia, where almost half of the Internet’s population resides. I can’t imagine there are many old or big corporations out cheap buy online without prescription Amoxil there that are still stuck with Internet Explorer 6 — there’s probably a lot of Firefox and Chrome out there.

The worst thing, though, is that tech blogs are all but ignoring the most important statistic: the rate at which the Internet is growing. 200,000,000 new users connected between 2009 and 2010, so when Internet Explorer ‘sits’ at 60% (or 50% or 40%, depending on the graph), that means that this year alone around 100 million people installed IE8. Firefox, to keep its 30% (or 20%) share will have been installed by around 50 million new users. Chrome has certainly carved out a slice of the pie, but it’s important to keep an eye on the bigger picture. Let’s not forget that 270 million new smartphones will be sold around the world in 2010 — I know Firefox and Opera have their eyes on that market, but what about Chrome and Internet Explorer?

As a parting thought, almost every one of those new Internet users come from the Middle East, Africa and Asia. I would love to see some browser market share statistics from Iran, India, Japan and big ol’ China…The new Internet craze: splitting hairs over fractional Web browser market share changes originally appeared on Download Squad on Tue, 05 Oct 2010 13:00:00 EST. Motorola Defy Hands On [Video]

The Motorola Defy is a semi-ruggedized Android smartphone that is the latest in a long line of Oprah-giveaways. What you’ve got is a 3.1" touchscreen behind scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass attached to a form factor that’s water and dust-resistant – down to the oversized rubber covers for the USB and headphone ports.

We dig the white-on-black looks and the exposed screws around the edges. We don’t quite dig that it’s sporting Android 2.1 instead of 2.2, but for a phone levaquin lawsuits in this range it’s not a deal-breaker. It’s got a 5-megapixel camera to snap photos of your Australian adventures and DLNA to display those photos on your television. You’ll access it all through the MotoBlur skin, which didn’t appear to slow the device down too much, but even so – T-Mobile G2 this ain’t.

While its controller may have a button layout that only an Atari Jaguar apologist could love (…), Sony’s Google TV set itself is still something intriguing, if only because of the missing pieces of the puzzle set to be revealed October 12th. Or now, perhaps, if this Sony Insider leak proves true. According to the site, four models will initially be introduced: NSX-24GT1, NSX-32GT1, NSX-40GT1, and NSX-46GT1 — which, as you may have surmised, correspond to 24-, 32-, 40-, and 46-inch sets. Steve Jobs attended a the ceremony to honor the signing of California SB 1395, a bill that simplifies organ donation status and creates the nation’s first kidney donor registry. Steve Jobs, who had liver transplant last year while on leave of absence from Apple, has been a strong proponent for better donor support ever since.

Along with Governor Schwarzenegger, Jobs had this to say:

“There were not enough livers in California to go around. I was advised by my Stanford doctors to enroll on a list at a Memphis hospital, because it was more favorable to get a liver there.

“I was fortunate,” he said because he had the ability to fly cross country in the four-hour window needed to transplant a healthy organ. “Last year, 400 other Californians died waiting. I could have died.”

It’s an interesting glimpse at the Steve Jobs beyond Apple, and an admirable bit of work by California.

We’re a week late on this one, but considering the delicious awesomeness of this tidbit, I hope you’ll forgive us. As part of Mozilla Lab’s ‘Concept Series’, which has produced fantastic proofs-of-concept for the future of Mozilla and the Web, Billy May has produced what he thinks an Open Web mobile phone might look like: the Seabird (video after the break).

A few commenters on the Mozilla Labs blog have pointed out that it would be impossible to squeeze such hardware into that form factor — but this is a concept! Not a reality! It’s also only nominally a phone: the video doesn’t show a single example of actually making a call.

It’s truly beautiful, though, and I’m not ashamed to admit that the Bluetooth-and-infrared buy without prescription cheap online Amoxil dongle left a rather large pool of saliva at the base of my computer chair.

So, OnAir is still hanging around, huh? It’s been quite a while since we’ve heard anything from the in-flight telephony company, with outfits like Row44 and Aircell dominating the space with their near-constant rollout of in-flight WiFi services here in the States.
